Qantas Lounges will begin reopening from 1 November 2021

Won’t get a lot of time then.

I’m booked on the actual qantas flight on Sunday and it’s annoyingly not open at all
That sucks. I was originally booked on the 3.20pm departure but changed to 2pm to get into NAD a bit earlier and and to fly on the A350.

What's the story with Emirates eligible lounge passengers heading to the Qantas lounge.

It seems Emirates is using the Plaza premium lounge in Sydney (old Amex lounge) as there is a very steady stream of Emirates passengers arriving here despite the Qantas lounge open Upstairs.

Obviously with an A380 flight plus the ANA and mixture of Amex and paid Plaza premium passengers this space isn't enough so most are being sent downstairs to the skyteam lounge.

My experience last week:
I don't know if this is correct application of policy or the dragon made a mistake, but I was refused access into the Flounge on Monday when traveling on EK409 as a codeshare QF8409. The lounge was open at the time for the LAX flight. The lady said they're only letting in passengers on QF metal.

At check-in for EK415 earlier this week the EK agent informed me they were using the PP lounge. I queried why the QF Flounge was not the recommended option, to which she said she believed it depended on the timing of QF flights. I told her QF11 was departing 10 mins after EK415 and she agreed it was ‘worth a try’ to see if the Flounge was available. I had no problem gaining admission as a QF-ticketed J pax on EK415.

I can't answer your question, though, about why EK is steering its pax towards the PP lounge. Their staff must surely know the QF lounge is open and available to J as well as F pax for some flights on EK metal including EK415.

Does anyone know what time the QF Internal first lounge closes tonight or at night? I have a late flight out tonight, but my brother who flew out on EK last xmas night said that all the lounges were closed except the mahabra (EK and QF lounges closed).

There are no priority pass lounges in Sydney international. Further up this thread when people are talking about PP they mean Plaza premium (the Plaza premium no longer accepts priority pass).

Ah thank you that makes sense.

Even then the Plaza Premium Lounge is unavailable as this is closed today between 12:00 and 18:00.

After 6pm a ≤ three hour visit costs $44.55

Given only Dom J lounge in SYD and MEL is opened, would the lounge pass holders (those free ones from Points Club) be able to use the Dom J lounge?

Not right now.

Per this page:

Complimentary Lounge Invitations will not be accepted at this time.

Also note on invites page:

Notice: Some domestic Qantas lounges in Australia have reopened following the easing of travel and venue capacity restrictions in select states and territories. Temporary measures are in place including physical distancing requirements and lounge capacity limits. Once linked to an Eligible Flight, Complimentary Lounge Invitations are accepted, subject to capacity at the time of your visit. Eligible lounges will be shown when linking an invitation. Remember to check our airport service changes page for the most up-to-date information on lounge openings and updates.

I'm at the F lounge in MEL and initially EK409 was on the departures board. Shortly after I noticed that it (back?)flipped and was removed from the board... Who was the lady at reception you dealt with?
