Hello,

Currently sitting in Waikiki and have checked out of the hotel.

Flight tonight is American airlines at 8:55 to LA and I am just wondering about the Qantas club.

All I have is single use complimentary passes, does anyone know if I can use this?

From what I can see, Qantas website says I need a QF flight number and mine shows up in my Qantas booking as an AA flight number. Will they let me in? Would love a shower before the flight other than the beach here!

Sadly without a QF flight number I don't believe you will be admitted to the Qantas Club with a pass. You can buy an Admirals Club day pass for $50.

Also I believe those passes can only be redeemed at Qantas operated lounges...?

HNL is (and has been for a long time) a messy and confusing setup. It's marked as a Qantas Club (not an admirals club) and during the mornings it is, however once QF4 has gone is morphs into an Admirals Club. This has caused me issues in the past when trying to access on a QF Codeshare which should have access to a QC but not an Admirals Club (and I was subsequently - and incorrectly, rejected).

Qantas' response was to just change the Qantas Club times on the website to make the "morph" happen earlier.

Regardless, it's not very good.

Actually, AA opened their own A/C a year or two ago and the QP no longer 'morphs' - it closes after the QF/JQ departure each day.

If you've got a day up your sleeve in Honolulu why would you want to spend it at the airport?

Was here last year... It has to be in the running for the oldest QP in the international network.. It's as if it hasn't had any money spent on it since the 80s!

Always loved in a nostalgic way the QP in HNL, it reminds me of a bygone time of travel! In comparison to many international lounges it's actually quite decent, the staff are great in my experience though! If it doesn't do the morph any more then I guess you're fine? Always remember they put away all of the 'good' food and whip out the cheap and nasty Admirals Club offerings!!

I don't have great feelings about this lounge at all as it usually means I'm going home! Aloha Oe

The HNL lounge not been touched for years, your not missing out on anything.

Realistically, it is the Japan Airlines lounge, with an AA representative also sitting at the front desk. Last time I was in there, there was an imminent JL departure, so the spread was better than a standard AA lounge & had self pour spirits on offer, I don't know if these disappear later in the day?

Exactly this, the lounge is not a happy place to be :(

Always found the staff outstanding and it's a nice quiet place away from the rest of the terminal

That is very true. There are some places that you are happy to see the back of and others where you would rather not! But really it's not a bad little lounge and a reminder of simpler times, and fewer status passengers too I would hazard a guess.

We used this lounge last year and again in a few weeks, but its OK its not great but much better than sitting around outside

So, we'll be headed home from HNL on QF in a couple of weeks' time (QF4)... what is the best lounge there for a QF WP / OWE? I do recall the QC being 'acceptable', but as most are saying... hardly enjoyable. It was also an episode of 'The Amazing Race' away from the departure gate, IIRC!

Cheers.
