Sorry if this has been asked many times before. We are off to Hawaii in 2 weeks for my husbands 40th. It's me and hubby and our 2 children ( 6 and 8). I am trying to get lounge passes ( we are flying on a Jq ticket)
i thought I would apply for one of the credit cards that give you two passes a year but it states that it takes 4 weeks to receive them so that would be too late. I see people seling them on Gumtree but I know that is illegal and I would be worried to do that. So the question is, are there any other ways to get these tickets. I have searched the Internet but apart from joining the Qantas club or the credit cards I can't see anything else. Should I give up on this idea????

Selling them on Gumtree or ebay isn't illegal, it's just (usually) against the T&C of whatever program the seller got the passes through - and that's the seller's problem, not yours. As long as the passes you buy are actually real ones (and not fakes or expired) there's no reason you wouldn't be able to use them. So this might be a viable option for you if you can't find an alternative means of entry.

I was hoping to get some as well, I just applied and was approved for the Qantas Amex premium card which comes with 2X lounge passes after an eligible Qantas purchase on the card, I am hoping this will come through in the next 4 weeks if not no big deal.

Personally I wouldn't bother. This lounge is about 30 years old. It is small and at peak times it is a zoo.

Previously I have left this lounge and gone back downstairs because of overcrowding.

I am more interested in the lounge at LAX personally

Plus 1 here. Last few times I was there it was standing room only. Ended up gulping down some frittata thing and just left and went back downstairs where there was room to breath.

Is the upstairs part of it still closed. IIRC there is another part of the lounge upstairs or there was about 10 years ago ?

I was going to suggest Admiral's Club 30 pass for US$99. But I'm not sure about the guest allowance being enough for 1 adult and 2 kids. But more importantly it doesn't appear to be valid for Jetstar passengers.

A very long shot you can try one of the meet ups thread and see if someone can guest you in who is on the same plane.
But it's a long shot and is hard for 2 people plus children.

I actually think the lounge is ok. Not as good as some , but better than many. That said, any lounge access is better than none........ Well almost better.
This one is to be revamped I hear.
I hope you find what you're looking for, but in my experience, you will need to be flying in a class that guarantees access , rather than rely on prayer and good fortune.

I now remember this lounge. Too small and busy. My opportunity in getting seat came when a flight was called. Small spaces for food, few restrooms. Time to expand / relocate lounge. Will revisit next Tuesday.
