This has been available for a while. Is it now bookable on line or something?

I think you're thinking of purchasing an "Extra Seat" which all airlines offer - this is normally charged as a full fare. This "Comfort Seat" will be as additional fee not the full cost of a fare.

Qantas call that a comfort seat. It is not precisely charged at full cost as they don't charge the taxes and fees on tr second seat. I'm still struggling to see how it is different.

On QF7/8 - what a great way for QF to ensure it makes more money on a route where it has to carry a lighter load!

I don't see posts 1 and 2. They have been "edited". What is happening here?

I think it was on here or Flyer Talk that mentioned it, a while back...
Yep.
But you MUST phone to book it.
I booked to WLG, found out CS was a reality, had to get refund and rebook.
NO taxes levied on the other seat.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yea, maybe it was there, #14.
If you try and book online, all the taxes levied will be charged for the other seat.
By phoning up, the QF CSA can negate the taxes and levies.
The CSA I spoke with was very understanding.
My phone call was longer, as my prior booking had to be cancelled.
On ipad, paws and ipads not good combo. No stylus.

For 747-800... CS is twice the cost of one seat, less taxes.
I would have paid $650 or so, in true subclass of Y, ADL to SYD to WLG, return.
If i booked 2 seat for 1 online, it would be $1300. Double taxes.
CS booked by phone, I paid close to $1150 return.
Business would be $1890 or so return.

Interesting thread with first 2 posts edited.

I remeber when all the seats were comfortable.. those days are gone..

In what way?

I don't like QF A330's but yesterday's QF81 SYD-SIN flight was quite OK. Delays taking off, a long(ish) 8h 40m flight and then delayed landing in SIN. I was in 23J with 23K vacant.

I am not sure what happens when you start to sit further back but it does look a little cramped.

If I purchased a comfort seat it would be the seat in front.

Thought about it a couple of times, but telling the passenger two seats away not to put anything on the seat (as I paid for it) doesn't make the rest of the flight easy I suspect.
