Have a booked j class that I can no longer use, my understanding from reading fare conditions is that j class domestic is fully refundable, these were not sale class j fares. When I begin the cancellation process online it comes up with a process to create a voucher for use within 12 months, however I don't want a voucher I want a refund. Does anyone know the process? For example, do I forge ahead with creating the voucher then it gives me the option of a refund? Or do I need to contact customer service? Cheers!!

Just cancel over the phone.

You WILL need to call to arrange the refund. Qantas don't want to make it easy for you to to get your $$$ back.

FWIW, I suggest you do not assume any fare is "fully refundable" (although Domestic Business class flights normally are).

Look your booking up online and check the fare rules. You need to see something like:

Business
Cancellations (including no show)

  • Before departure:
    • Full refund
  • After departure:
    • The refund will be the difference (if any) between the fare paid and the applicable fare for the journey travelled.
  • Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award: If this is a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award and the itinerary has been partially flown, then a proportion of the money and points originally used to obtain the award will be refunded to the applicable Member. The proportion refunded will be the remaining ticket value as allocated by Qantas as a proportion of the original ticket value.
  • Any refund or credit is the Australian dollar price.
  • Note: If this fare is combined with another fare the most restrictive cancellation conditions apply.

Thanks all. Just called, full refund, quick and painless :-) And no trying to pass me of with a credit voucher, pleased.

Cheers.
