What happens with this and those other airlines for those people fortunate (blessed) enough to be Op Up'd ?

Toasted Ciabatta Meat Ball Sandwich with Fontina and Pesto
A tasty refreshment offering of veal meatballs, melted fontina cheese and tomato sauce served in toasted ciabatta. This dish is best enjoyed with a Chardonnay.

I'll keep that Wine choice in mind next time I pickup a Meatball Sub from Subway ;)

So, does the sample menu have any options that appeal to anyone here? :)

Should have been done years ago - and hopefully the pilot goes well. It would allow more people to get what they want, and reduces wastage. Win win for everyone.

Agree, sounds like a good idea!

Perhaps opt-in for the tasting menu ~72 hours in advance and therefore open it up to all routes? :D

When you travel F so much, do you ever get sick of the tasting menu, or is it a must have every single time?

This sounds like a good service once the teething problems get sorted... if expanded, it will reduce problems like the one below occuring.

Oh yes please, Qantas, bring it on! :D So hoping that it will end up on all routes and ideally also domestically in J. Looking at the website- with images even, how good is that! So often have I ordered one meal and then thought afterwards "The other one which my neighbor has, looks so much better- should have ordered that one!"

Well, it depends. When I travel with someone else then yes the tasting menu is nice and it is a nice way to kill a few hours. The crew on a couple of my more frequent runs have come to know me so they generally let me pick and choose a tasting menu so to speak. I'll pick perhaps two entrees and a steak sandwich for example with something from the tasting menu. But yeah, more often than not I'll go for the tasting menu :D

I think it's a great idea. It should be expanded to include every flight where a meal choice is offered.

Looks like it rolled out wider on April 30. It's on my LAX-MEL flight May 19 but not on the BNE-LAX flight on May 28. I'll have the duck please.:D

Where does it show this on your booking? I thought it was only available 72 hours before departure?

I logged onto Qantas, found the link to select Q-eats (sorry, I do not have enough posts to post the link) was asked for my booking code, email address, first & surname and then was directed to a page with the options on the menu. After selecting the duck leg, I got a message that my order had been noted.

OK - thanks - here's hoping it appears on the DXB flights before September then :)

Is there any talk of making this "from" OZ also? Seems all of the options are "to" OZ only.

I'm surprised how long it takes QF to get their act together with this: They managed to sort all the cooperation stuff with Emirates in record time (great booking site for the chauffeur drive, near perfect signing in DXB airport and so on and on...) and then it takes months and months to "trial" their meal service?

Even an otherwise totally disorganized airline like Thai which doesn't even let you select your seats online manages to offer you an amazing choice of meals to pre-book on their funny website which looks like being programmed in some shed while Qantas on my upcoming QF12 has a rather uninspiring choice of "supper" options of which most are not even proper meals but salads, soups and sandwiches- some of which you can order as a snack any time during the flight anyway. Apparently, "passengers told them" they wanted to pay thousands of dollars to receive a salad as dinner- yea, right!

Besides- it's mid May and you still select from the "April 2013" menu which just further makes this entire thing look like an half-ar@#d attempt rather than what I would expect from Qantas, especially after months of trialing. Fairly disappointing to be honest.
