Qantas International Catering Singapore To Brisbane

I always assume that the meals in J on Qantas Intl will be fairly rubbish, so I try and eat in the lounge beforehand and don't bother much with what's being offered on board (alcohol excepted). As for Y on Qantas Intl, I try very hard to avoid it.

Qantas compares very poorly with CX, my preferred OW carrier.
Economy I would say it’s a slight margin in favour of qantas… lots of snack and ice cream runs that you don’t seem to get on cathay? And premium economy is a clear win for qantas… better seats, better food, better service.

My first post and unfortunately it’s a huge whinge. Qantas what are you doing?

Flew Singapore to Brisbane in economy and the food was disgusting. This is an international service which should be showcasing what to expect from the best country in the world, and on the current offering get a parachute and don’t bother coming.

Aside from being served wooden utensils to eat with, the food was terrible. Choice of peri peri chicken or vegetarian noodles, had run out of the beef option by row 34, microwaved bun that if you didn’t eat as soon as it hit your tray, it was a rock within two minutes, and a sponge cake, which was the best part, and even that was mediocre.

Breakfast, that’s a whole other story, because that was inedible! Scrambled egg and tomato lattice pastry in a box….the box was more appealing.

I’m ashamed to call Qantas my national airline on that offering, having flown Emerites economy to Europe, there is no comparison.

The cabin crew were great, but the food leaves a lot to be desired.

Thank god for Singapore Qantas club food, which was outstanding. The short hop from Brisbane to Bundaberg where you get tea/coffee and a muffin was a better offering.
I had a very similar experience. Same disgusting breakfast pastry all served with a cup of water. Emirates was far superior except for one thing. On our Dubai to Oslo leg they did not seat me and my wife together. And one last point. The QFF status points I earned on Emirates was double the rate I earned on Qantas. So disappointed in QANTAS and will always look for other options in the future. QF will be my last choice.

Hi and welcome to AFF!

As well as water you should have had the choice of juices, tea and coffee?

Something must have gone wrong kf you earned double status credits on an emirates flight over a qantas flight. You always earn the most status credits on qantas metal or a qantas flight number.

Firstly, thank you for the welcome. Unfortunately there was no tea, coffee or juice offered to anyone. In economy. It was very disappointing.
The status point comment is a little more complex. I made the one multi sector booking and all were QF flight numbers. I opted to go via Dubai as the same flights but via SIN were more expensive (when using QF operated sectors). I received 60 status points and 6750 QFF points for BNE to DBX on Emirates. and on QF LHR to SIN it was 40 status points and 3600 QFF points. Reviewing my QFF account it looks like the Emirates sectors were treated as Economy and the QF operated sectors as discounted economy. I just looked at the bottom line cost and dollar for dollar, there was more points and status credits on the codeshare Emirates sectors.
My real issue on this thread was the poor food offering on QF SIN to BNE.
