I have received an email offering a sign up bonus + free lounge passes (which I don't need as a WP) .
has anyone else received the email and had a look at the offering?

I got this. I havent been convinced in the past to move health funds for the sake of points.
Similarly as a WP i dont need the passes.
Although mine noted they were "Up to 100,000 Qantas Points + up to 4 domestic Lounge Invitations" so that assumes they cant be used at international lounges such as Syd International or overseas.

Interesting that they are now separating passes to be international and domestic types now.

I agree, points in and of themselves arent a good reason to move, and the "up to" 100,000 points may be for the very top flash expensive cover :)

I looked at it, as I have been reviewing my health insurance. The 100K points is if you take out TOP hospital and TOP extras and this offer is for if you accept by the end of the month. I could do it for fewer points, but don't have time to look at all the angles.

Probably not the worst move given:
  • the Singapore Lounge situation is unlikely to have a permanent resolution anytime soon
  • the Sydney International J Lounge will have reduced space due to renovations starting Q3 this year
  • the Melbourne International J Lounge is due for a renovation after Sydney
  • the Perth Transit Lounge doesn't accept complimentary passes

Ok, but what about some of the other international locations like HKG, LHR, HNL ect. While some of the overseas may not be worth a visit i still dont like the idea of creating this new type of pass. Slippery slope i think. Whats next PS's once a year pass is now Domestic lounge only as well.

To add my last post they're also not usable at the Qantas lounges in LAX (excluded in T&C) and DFW (an "associated lounge" despite being Qantas branded)

I understand there are other accessible lounges - LHR and HKG being the two decent picks - but it's still a smart business decision IMO. Promoting complimentary invites for international use and then denying them at (literally) your biggest ports is going to frustrate your customers as well as the staff who have to deal with them.

Qantas Assure Health Insurance is issued by nib health funds limited.

I had a look when Assure first came out and have done a quick review again.

My current insurer (HCF) provided better cover at a significantly cheaper rate back then and still does now.

I wont be 'earlybirding' it here.

I got the email and although I need to review my cover doubt I'll have time before 31st July

This promo might be different, but as pointed out above, the previous ‘up to’ [xx_] points have always been for top cover, top extras AND for a couple or family. Solo insured only get half.

In the past the quotes were quite expensive, although recently they were closer to what I’m paying now with HCF. I’m not tempted to change though. These generous offers have to be paid for somehow... how is that being passed on? I don’t know.

The Qantas brand - safety - is fantastic. QF Loyalty on the other hand is just about making money, off me. I don’t have a brand trust there that they are looking after me as the number one priority (rather than profit for themselves).

Had a quick look today and for a couples policy with top cover and top extras I was looking at approximately $560/mth. Need to have the policy for 60 days to get the 100,000 QFF points

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Received email. Got a quote. Utterly uncompetitive.

When I gave it a go to see how the yearly pricing stacked up versus my current top
Level cover it was 80% more for the same level of cover.

So for the 100k points for a Y ticket Syd to lax I could have bought one and had change.

So in the bin it went.
