Don't be disappointed, I'm sure there will be a few more flights to WSI when the curfew is missed for SYD.

Any overs/unders on the number of WSI-SYD re-positioning flights per month?

All Jetstar and Qantas flights will go on sale at 10am on Wednesday June 10, with launch fares from $59 on Jetstar, $99 in Qantas economy and $299 for business class.

I see the Jetstar flights bookable on their website, but the Qantas ones are not. I can't even select WSI as an airport on the QF site.

You currently have to search 'Sydney, Australia - SYD' for them to show up on the QF site.

Listed as 'Western Sydney International (Sydney)' amongst the Kingsford Smith results.

QF is working the same as SQ (so buyer beware when searching).

But award seats have loaded if someone in the east needs to get to WSI cheaper than an Uber! But obviously not quicker and no lounge at OOL by then…

I am struggling to understand, 4 weekly Qantas MEL-WSI? I expected 4x daily!

I suspect they are now being being conservative in estimating the demand.

If they schedule too many flights and end up cancelling some/many/most due to lack of demand I suspect the authorities would take a dim view, in light of the above.

The other problem is that cancellations are expensive to both the airline and passengers, and generally drive customers nuts. It's a lose-lose.

Sensible approach is to start with a modest schedule and add flights to meet demand if needed.

Must say I'm a little surprise JQ isn't doing something like JQ217 out of the gate (MEL 2355 AKL 0530+1) although maybe they are expecting NZ to do that.

I reckon it'll develop similar to NTL (although admittedly, I hope it'll grow beyond) - first few years of JQ, before demand, especially some corporate/business, firms up, then QF Link/mainline becomes more dominant. But it'll take time. Customers are often slow to adapt to change.

And also, QF and JQ work harmoniously in this regard - in their view, there's 18 flights weekly to MEL.

I agree, it will definitely build over time, give it a year.

When fares are high and people are searching, especially in peak, that’s where WSI really comes into play and the exposure really starts there.

Perhaps they will eventually.
Whether there will be more flights does depend on the strength on the forward booking then wilil start a new routes/frequencies.
