I’m guessing no buffets in lounges and possibly changes to food packaging or even meal service onboard
I didn't think it meant free-flowing champagne but I wondered if anyone actually knew the details.

Anyone know what this part means?
"In this climate you may also notice some temporary changes to your inflight and lounge experience. "

I'm guessing it means there may be general service reductions (reduced food and beverage offerings), reduced amenities (newspapers, magazines, pillows), perhaps not offering to hang jackets, etc.

Could be either staff initiatives to reduce contact, or the airline cutting costs.

Just heard that Qantas is cancelling all international flights. I'm a late age traveller and been a Qantas FF for nearly 20 years. I was very saddened to hear the news, even with the extension of the loyalty program. It was like losing a family member with some grieving taking place. Where will it end. International travel is mostly what I do, perforce.

Yes! Cash refunds, no travel vouchers?
Yes! Cash refunds, no travel vouchers?
Dream on! I twice requested a refund and have been sent a voucher. Tried to ring but they don’t want to talk to anybody who isn’t travelling in the next 48 hours. Have again requested a refund, said I don’t want a voucher - especially as it dates from time of booking not flying. Still waiting for reply.

Qantas has secured a $1B loan against its assets to get it through this period - I believe it had around $2.5B in cash to start with. Very good news for the security of the airline. Virgin doesn't have many assets to is not in a position to do this (most of their fleet is leased).

Have the cancellations been rolled out en masse yet?

milehighclub kindly posted on the QF delays/cancellations thread that 'last flights' (for time being) on QFi would be between 25 and 28 March, though some routes (such as SYD - MNL) seem to have ceased (due partly to Metro Manila's lockdown.)

With QFd (and JQd), it published a list of affected routes with frequency reductions (e.g. SYD - MEL down from 250 to 88 return trips a week) and routes from which one or both were temporarily withdrawing, but that was before interstate travel was targeted more strongly on Tuesday 24 March night by PM Morrison.

So one might expect these frequency cuts to be far more draconian, but it must be challenging getting all this information assembled as the situation has changed so often.

Looking at information released to the ASX under share codes QAN, VAH, REX and whatever for Alliance Airlines reveals the most recent response by airlines to coronavirus. A good time is before 1000 on weekday mornings as that's when the stockmarket starts its staged opening. Often the latest announcement is publicly available from 0830 or 0900 hours.

I had a flight supposedly cancelled in the first round of cuts: BNE-ORD. That hasn't yet been cancelled, but zeroed availability, which precludes the ticketing of any alternative ...

Woohoo. My Platinum card should now get me priority check-out. Perhaps there'll be a dedicated coffee shop outside the store where elites can pass the time before shopping.

Well done both parties...

Agreed. It's great that Qantas and Woolworths can work together on this.

For clarity, to their poker machine business or supermarkets? Or both?

It wouldn't be poker machines because the ALH Group (Woolworths and Bruce Matheson) have had to close many pubs, except for BWS bottleshops that continue to trade normally.

Good to know, although the government will miss all the pokie tax Woolworths pay I suppose!

Can we hope for in store service?

I say this tongue in cheek given the severity of the situation and the fact that these are peoples lives and livelihoods but...

yes, you can expect the very best of Qantas service on your next Woolworths visit 😱

I wonder what the equivalent of staff travel will be. 😂
