Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

I am glad I didn't bother pursuing Green Tier this year. I don't need the status credits (have Lifetime Gold and unlikely to reach Platinum again) and the 10K points does not count towards Points Club. So I can spend about 8K to earn 10K points and decided that was not worth the hassle of dealing with the broken processes for leaf delivery.
Makes sense.

At this stage, I'll likely still chase it (I'm not yet LTG and this remains one of the only opportunities to boost the SC total short of flying), but I'm hopeful that they'll make further adjustments to the program that open up more options and make it equally viable to earn/retain as in prior years, especially with ongoing feedback such as that already supplied by @nancypants. I can accept the cost going up, but as long as I can still come out "ahead", I think I would continue to chase it.

I wonder whether Qantas are contemplating wrapping up Green tier. It certainly seems neglected.
That thought has crossed my mind as well. I'd be curious to know what the take-up has been since the program's introduction? No doubt a good percentage of GT members are AFFers, but beyond this group, I wonder if many people have bothered with it?

I certainly don't recall seeing much in the way of promotional activities re: GT.

They need to add more green properties, there are locations of the brands they do include that arent listed but are also green, and they need some international options.

The recycling pickup 3 is cheaper than the offset home was BUT takes a ot longer and requires more effort.

Perhaps they could simplify it to just offsetting flights, say 5-10 QF flights per year, pretty easy to achieve and would cost under $100 if all are domestic.

I’ve been treating GT as cheap status “insurance” and timed achievement within 3 mths of status year end.

I’m already LTG, but 50 SCs in the back pocket is handy for retaining WP. Fortunately, I haven’t needed to select the 50 SCs at the end of the last couple of years to limp over the line, so I’ve been giving myself a 50 SC starter at the beginning of each year.

For the first time, my forward bookings in my next member year (from August), should already get me well over WP without any GT boost, so I’ll just take the points at the end of this month (can’t see myself getting to LTP!)

But I will still offset my next SYD-MEL trip AFAO, to get that leaf out of the way and then reassess if GT will be of any use for my 2026/27 member year.
