Hi everyone,

My father is a Qantas Frequent flyer Platinum member. I noticed ever since he got the Platinum status, the membership status bar stated he will needs certain amount of status points to get him "the next tier of Platinum" or something to that effect. This include gold status for a family member. I think at that time, he was about 500 status points away.

After he returned from a oversea trip yesterday, I logged on to his frequent flyer page and noticed there is nothing under the Membership Status bar apart from display his current status credits earned from 01 April 2011 is 2,100, and when the Status reassessment will occur.

I may have missed something if there has been a change to this incentive in the last few months. I also can't see anything about Platinum One. Is giving your family member a gold status after you've earned so many status points no longer available or it was never the case?

Can anyone explain to me how this really works please? I really appreciate your help. Thank you everyone.

All this information is available on the QANTAS website:
Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Platinum Benefits - Platinum
Go to "Even More Benefits" and the "Platinum One" tabs for details.

Now, you need 2400SCs for Partner Gold (can be given to a wider range of people than just partners) or 50,000 points or 3 valet parking/transfer vouchers

Thank you, do you know how I can apply for partner Gold after he reach 2400 points?

QF let your father know. Then you have to promise your father to be a very good boy and ask nicely if you can be the one.:p
:D;)

Qantas sends out an email (upon reaching 2400 status credits) advising that they can go online and make a selection.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
