So I've been told. Of course that is nicely contained in the wings, I gather

Thanks for the info. I was vague because I know no more than that it was used as a counterweight. I'm not exactly sure of the density, but I would guess that depleted uranium (that is what they use for counterweights) is the most dense based on atomic mass. It is still used extensively for radiation shielding where density is the most important parameter. As a counterweight I would expect density is less important, only when available space becomes a limiting factor.

I am trying to find a source but I believe the DC10, L1011 And 747 (100/200) were planes that had uranium as counterweights.

El Al 1862 came up as not all the uranium could be find after the accident
