Quick question for the experts out there..

I currently hold both QF Gold (exp Dec 2013) and CX Gold (exp Jul 2014), however I will not be able to hold onto QF Gold past Dec 31st (quite likely I won't even reach Silver...)

I'm about to book a return flight SYD to LAX in Y, leaving SYD on Jan 1st, 2014 and returning in late January. I was planning to book using my QF FF# to start building up QF status (again) for 2014 however I was wondering if that means I would not be able to use my CX Gold card to get into SYD & LAX lounges as the ticket would show my QF (lower) status...

From the OneWorld website... "Members of oneworld airline frequent flyer programmes with the equivalent of oneworld Emerald or Sapphire tier status can use any lounge offered by any oneworld airline when departing on any flight marketed and operated by anyoneworld member airline, regardless of cabin class being flown." there is no mention of any requirements to have the gold status carrier matching the one on the boarding pass but I just want to make sure... has anyone tried this before?

ALSO: Qantas standard procedure is to give customers a complimentary 3 month membership to the Qantas Club, when dropping down from QFF Gold - this would cover your January 2014 travel period, and give you lounge access when flying Y on QF in SYD & LAX. (You may like to ask the SYD T1 J lounge for a temporary Qantas Club card, if you do not receive a card in the mail prior to your departure.)

I believe anecdotal evidence *suggests* this is the case, but it may not be policy or procedure.

I use my QF WP when flying AA in the USA, and credit to AA (I'm only Gold with AA which is OW Ruby; no lounge access) and have zero issues. I show my BP with my AA number and hand it over with my QF card. Always welcomed with a smile.

Do the same with your QF FF number on the BP and pass over your CX Gold card, if you do have any issues.

When I dropped from Gold to silver recived a letter saying complimentary 3 month membership to the Qantas Club. However I also had a paid membership to the Qantas Club

Was the duration of this complimentary 3 month membership added on to your existing "on hold" membership?
