Hi all, been a member for a while but casual peruser only - finally need some advice from experienced heads.
Have a QF flight credit for around $600 expiring early Jun 19 - no upcoming necessary travel or leave to utilise it. Any tricks on how to recoup this “cash”?
Is booking a fully flexible fare then cancelling for potential full refund an option? Any advise appreciated. Cheers

I have a slightly different problem. I have a voucher that I want to use but it will not let me take advantage of "Sale" flights - even though it would still be greater than the original flight cost. I can't find any reference to this restriction in the T&Cs. I have a "callback" with Qantas, supposedly 35 minutes now just under two hours (no surprises there).

At this stage, it looks like I'll just have to pay the extra.

Any idea's would be greatly appreciated.
How did you go BruceBris? Did you hear back from Qantas?

Hi jos88, well, no call back so far and after several hours on the app Chat yesterday and another two hours this morning, even the service people cannot see the sale flights. They came up with an even more expensive trip than I could get online. They kept up the mantra that the new overall price had to be greater than the original and that is why they didn't show. I pointed out that it would be higher as I would pay full price one way and sale the other. In the end I gave up and lodged a complaint and asked to be directed to the condition that says Credit Voucher clients can't access the sale prices.

I wait with baited breath. Fortunately, I have low expectations of Qantas Customer Service so my expectations will probably be met. If they cannot show a logical reason for blocking the sale fares, I'll probably take it up with the ombudsman.

I'll update as soon as I hear (if ever) from them.

Thanks Bruce. Hope you have some luck with this.

Just using this old Thread for a more recent discussion of a Flight Credit Redemption Debacle>

From flights cancelled in June and July I obtained two Flight Credits. Each Flight Credit was for my wife and I and I was trying to use some of the value on flight bookings later this year.
I tried to use them online but I was directed to call the dreaded 1313 13 number, the options I chose lead me to a path with only a 15 minute wait.
I originally asked to use one of the vouchers , with a credit of nearly $900 for a return flight which was only $97 each each way. After a while on hold, the QF person advised me that I would need to pay an extra $427 ! I eventually gathered that because the original ticket was one flight each that it could only be redeemed for one flight so asked her to use the other flight credit for the return flight.
I'm still not sure what value will be on each of the reissued flight credits for the balance.
What a schemozzle for something that surely should be a simple booking online with credit value
