If I was to book a flight(s) using Qantas Frequent Flyer points on various oneworld airlines, (ie the 140K RTW) but then had Gold Status (but no points to use) from another oneworld airline (Cathay) - meaning I have oneworld Sapphire, am I able to use that status to get the additional benefits such as free seat selection in Y or additional baggage?

I understand that oneworld Sapphire would give me lounge access to all of these airlines.

Thanks.

I don't see why not. I am fairly sure you are able to enter your FF number just as if it is a paid booking.

The only benefits you would get would be OW specific benefits - i.e. not luggage benefits. Obviously you would also get the CX Gold benefits if any segments were on CX.

The OW specific benefits are here : oneworld benefits - oneworld

Yup. I do this. I burn my AA Miles (where i'm only Gold/OW Ruby) and once booked on QF, I then ring QF and have them put my QF WP number in. BP's always say 'FF PLATINUM' on them, but i've never gotten anything special out of it (other than slated benefits, F Lounge etc).
