Very quick and easy one, I've only been flying in and out of Syd recently and was wondering are the Qantas Express passes for immigration and customs the same for Syd and Mel?

(reason is I'm going to give a stack to the parents who only fly out of Mel)

Handed in an ancient, battered old style express pass at BNE last week; I'd been saving it for a rainy day. It was so ancient and battered that the Customs guy handed it back to me:cool:

Cheers skip

Did you get to use the express still though?

Even when I fly whY I ask the checkin ladies for one - they normally give them to me without question.

Yes, the guy let me use the express lane.

Unlike tuppaware I got knockbacks when asking but flying Y cheers

I checked in the Business class checkin with QF gold though.

I thought Gold was entitled to express passes? I always received them once I hit Gold (travelling by myself) and when I was QC Silver I received them when travelling with a person that had Gold.

Heck, I even once received First tags on my baggage when I was Gold - simply because my leg out of LAX on American was in "First" :D

Anyway, I don't use the express passes if the lines are short so I have a few spares that I keep in my passport wallet. From time to time I'll give one to a friend who's travelling overseas (and doesn't have status).

All a matter of sweet talking ;-)

I received express passes last year flying back from HKG in PE ... normally PE don't get them, so I figured it must be the Gold status. I've also got them flying back from HNL in Starclass.

Flying back from Tokyo last weekend, they didn't have any express passes at JAL checkin, even though we were flying J class. So we walked over to QF service desk and asked, and they replied "sorry, they are only for Qantas passengers". I felt like doing the whole "DYKWIA ... QFF Gold" etc but let it slide as we still had some "standby" express passes from previous trips in our travel wallets (although starting to look a little tattered!)

On board however, the FA's walked through the cabin shortly after take off with immigration cards, and express cards for immigration!
