Just received my frequent flyer summary email and noticed a section "We're updating our Classic Flight Reward fees". There is no detail in the table but a link to this page:

https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/dyn/program/terms#jump24

From what I can tell fees increase from 14 December 2016 (3 months from today):

  • Flight change fee increases from 3,500 points to 5,000 points (43% increase)
  • Flight cancellation fee increases from 5,000 points to 6,000 points (20% increase)

I can't tell if the other fees are also increased.

Nice work Qantas!

All other fees are the same, but the new fees apply from December 15, not December 14. ;)

Looks like QF will continue to waive the separate 'service fee' for changes to business/first class reward bookings made over the phone, however, so at least the sky isn't falling! :P

Sorry - yes 15 December so full 3 months notice is provided.

Still a bitter pill ....... My wages have stayed static > 15 years

Its just another Qantas enhancement :p apparently they are not happy with current profit!.

surprised that they didn't advertise the other "enhancement" that took place on Sept 1 (no oneworld baggage interlining on separate tickets), though every airline and oneworld themselves have been very quiet about it for a feature that supposedly is not used very often.
Seems like there's a new enhancement every month these days!

Hope no other changes, airlines have a habit of trying to slip extra through when they think no one is watching.

I suppose these "enhancements" will only cease when the punters stop flying with them. It's a bit like the old " frog in the slowly heating pot of water " story. Eventually he will crawl out.

The 43% change fee increase will hurt as sometimes it is difficult to get all the flights required at the time of the original booking and a number of subsequent changes are required when the appropriate availability appears.

I hate it when airlines use this kind of terminology. It's not an "update", it's an "increase".

I wasn't aware that the fee to change an award booking was waived for J/F bookings. Does this also apply to oneworld awards?
