Qantas Economy Plus Discussion

The QF website now explicitly (sort of) states that economy plus - front row and equivalents on aircraft that aren’t fitted with Y+, E.G. A380, 787 and E190, are excluded from being free for WP & SG. I assume the frequent flyer offer superseded this when those seats aren’t expected to be occupied.

We have a 787 flight on Sunday. At T-80 the front two became available at cost. Will be watching to see at T-24.

As part of Project Sunrise, QF have said that 42 seats on the new A35K ULRs will be "Economy Plus" seats, with a whopping 1-inch more legroom over the promised offering of 33 inches. Means anyone QF Gold or lower won't be able to select seats for free in 30% of the cabin until OLCI.

This also means that some seats, approximately 30%, will have only 32 inches of legroom - same as the QF 787s, although a wider and ostensibly more comfortable seat.
 
Given the ratio of specific seat cost vs original tic price on international flights, I would expect FAR LESS seats would be left to OLCI than say on domestic flights where $60 is 25% of original tic price

Economy Plus gets you Group 2 (same as SG) on Domestic at least. If there are few with Group 1, Group 2 can get called at the same time as Group 1. Not sure how this works on international.

I do agree that pretty much everyone having priority boarding is a problem. My biggest annoyance with travel is not finding space near my seat to put my carry-on luggage, so priority boarding is very important to me.

Economy Plus gets you Group 2 (same as SG) on Domestic at least. If there are few with Group 1, Group 2 can get called at the same time as Group 1. Not sure how this works on international.
From QF: Qantas Economy Plus seats allocated free of charge at airport are ineligible for priority boarding in Group 2.

However that has not been my experience so far.

But the 30% will be like three rows lol. There’s only 98 non economy plus seats, so that’s around 27 seats at 32’ pitch. The rest will all be 33 or 34.

Sucks to be in those three rows I guess 🤣
 
There's only 15.5 Y rows in the 350.
If 4.5 rows are getting a bump to 34*, is think it's a similar number that need to shrink.
I’m going off the official QF webpage… 98 seats without economy plus. Of those, 70% have 33 inch pitch.

Leaves around 29 seats, or three rows?
 
Or could you read it as 70% of the 140 Y seats have 33" (or 34"l).
So
economy plus 34" - 42 - Rows 41-44 + 45 outer
economy regular 33" - 57 - Row 45 middle + 46-51
economy (minus) 32" - 41 - Rows 52-55 + 56 (5 seats)
