Qantas Economy Plus Discussion

Once you get the “receipt” for the zero $ seat selection, you ought to be able to change (if you wanted to).
I have received the receipt once this year.

All other times I had that issue and have been unable to make further seat changes.

I recently managed to move to Row 4 quite some time after check-in as a WP, on a triangle route flight. They offered flow forwarding to move to an earlier flight and I guess some in row 4 must have done so. I decided to stick with the flight I had booked and enjoy the extra leg room from moving to row 4.

T-80, will check closer to T-24 if it becomes free

Correct. For some of us they’re opening at T-80 for free BUT, at T-24 the reverse is happening to pre Y+.Instead, they’re being blocked after OLCI opens.
Thats generally been my experience as well for the narrow bodies as well. It's less of a problem now given the Y+ but it's most likely QF IT trying to do a patchwork solution using their existing infrastructure. Perhaps it's even possible QF isn't aware that it's happening at all for WP that row 4 is often locked out again at T-24 then sporadically available.

Quite probably!

I’m quite happy with Row 5 on B737 now. Row 4 if it’s available is just a bonus.

After check-in these are the options showing for MrsDaver6 as a SG verse what EF shows. SGs are certainly screwed badly under the new system and not what QF advertised.

I was on a 737 the other day… business full, then the next 5 or 6 rows only had like three or four people in total, then the remainder of the plane was packed! Weight and balance maybe, but also i suspect those eligible for economy plus! (as in, not many!)

Flight is absolutely full. Likely non-status pax who hadn't preselected seats landed up in those Y+ seats while they were unavailable to SGs at check-in. Not a great outcome for the more loyal FFs.

If you are on a full flight, there not really much you can do other than select the best seat you can on a complimentary basis.

I flew to Darwin last week and other than exit rows, most seats behind row 6 were allocated.

Only 10 of the 18 seats in rows 3-5 had passengers, of those two were a couple seated together. So it worked for WP on this occasion.

Obviously there is some resistance to paying for these seats.

My point is QF advertised that at check-in Y+ seats that weren't selected would be made available to SGs. Not all were as you could see in my earlier post. The fly in the appointment is likely pax with no status landed up in those seats.

I think that would be more of an artifact of notional seating and how Qantas have implemented extra legroom seating.

That has also affected the ability for WP in seat selection with many if thise, seats also blocked.

I have found the T-80 dance is more critical than ever.

My understanding and correct me if I'm mistaken, is that WP could select economy plus seats at the time of booking for no charge. SG from check-in for now charge. If that's correct then it's not being implemented correctly.

Yes within 24 hrs of departure subject to availabilty for SG. That escape clause catches all non delivery of service for whatever reason. Works for all businesses. No benefits can be guaranteed due to changing or unforseen circumstances.
Move on buddy. Life is too short to be fixated on an issue you can't resolve. 🙂
