- Upgrade and award priority
- SST access

;)

Nothing here, and would not expect to get it either. I think it has been long observed that NZ members don't get access to many promos (apart from when QF pulled up stumps domestically), and similar applies I think with anyone with their registered QFF address outside of Australia.

Registered address outside of Australia does count (or at least has in the past)

You can't book AA First via Instant Upgrade anywhere other than via AA (on an AA flight number).

So no - you can not take advantage of the double SC offer in conjunction with Instant Upgrade fares.

You can however book AA flights under the QF codeshare when booked in conjunction with a QF flight.

You can not change class as you suggest though.

FWIW - if you book on QF website - book QF F and you can connect to AA F. Same for reward (no SCs).

Book J - fly J on 3-class / F on 2-class. (Unless award on two-class which seats you in economy).

Re: Qantas double SCs -how to book connecting AA sector in AA First & get double SCs?

Hiya Serfty,
Yes my friend, I am trying to maximise the benefit so graciously offered by Qantas by booking QF numbers on the flight from LAX to FLL.
Your input would be much appreciated, thanks.

the QF websites doesn't allow you to mix-n-match classes (as you've discovered). Additionally, if you are looking for QF flight numbers, I don't believe that even a TA will be able to do this: If you fly Y/PE, then your connecting QF codeshare flight will also have to be in Y. That seems to be a restriction on the ticket.

A TA could book you onto an AA flight number in a different class. I don't know if they have access to the instand upgrade fares, or whether these are only available on AA.com

Re: Qantas Double Status credits

Yeah got it but don't need it.
Only 100 SCs needed to re-qual for WP and 9 months left to go yet with 500 SCs baked in to go already so there should be no reason why I'd get it as the engine should be able to see no assistance is needed. May be it is seeing the increase in JAL, AA, AY bookings appearing long haul vs QF.

Remember our 3 hour chat about status?;) I'm currently an example of someone who isn't using the benefits and therefore all those great P1 things are useless to me right now. I'm focusing on Virgin and will requal 800SC from ~2 months of flying. After that I'm not sure what I'll do. All the perceived benefits of P1 are great, but if flying isn't fun then there needs to be something else to keep things exciting. At the moment, I'm loving my new girlfriend Virgin - the spark is there and we get along great.

I'd trade all the benefits in the world to feel the love and magic when flying. Since I don't feel this (in the air) with QF (except in F), the next best thing is to get requal out of the way and fly with an airline that feels refreshing and upbeat. So to me, double SC on QF would mean I would feel ok about putting up with a stale and grumpy flight attendants. This way I could whack 3600SC out in a couple of months and move on with something else. As it stands I will only do 1x (maybe 2) F AU-EU return on QF this year and drop down to Platinum.

Check your PM too!

In my case if the system could see what had already been booked it would have seen a slew of bookings in April, May and June with one international flight in August (the offer periods). Yet I still received the offer, and have booked a simple JASA to make use of it, knocking out over half my re-qualification in those flights. Really helped me out, but not sure why I was offered it, considering forward bookings.

Last time it was offered to me was December 2010, I promptly booked myself on the NAN-run for cash. So perhaps they were hoping for the same.

Yes I do remember our chat :

Actually - when I did receive the QF email - I chuckled and thought "Trippin will appreciate this" ;)

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I got the double SC offer so promptly booked a JASA run on Easter Saturday. Normal points and SC's showed up in my account the same day, but the double bonus SC's are yet to appear.

I appreciate that the fine print says 6 weeks, and that in previous offers that have run, people have commented that their bonus credits appeared in under a week.

Just wondering that for people that registered for the latest offer, and undertaken some flights (JASA or otherwise), what their experience has been for getting the bonus SC's credited this time around.

My rollover date is April 30, so I am super keen that my bonus credits come through sooner rather than later, to save me have to deal with the service centre over this.

From memory the previous campaigns saw a batch file (or some sort of similar process) run on Tuesdays that resulted in a credit of the extra SCs, that may happen this time or we may have to wait 6 weeks, either way there no point doing anything about it until at least the 6 week mark.

Exactly, I don’t think they are, but I’m sure you could write some sort of script if you had appropriate access to the backend to target a very small, or large, group of members.

Got the Doucle SC's email last week.

Anyone got any ideas on a Status Run in August? Will take advantage of the Double SC's so the run would need to earn around 300 points.

I looked at BNE -> MEL -> AKL -> MEL -> BNE which is 120,000 points and $175:00, earns 280 SC's.

Any other ideas?

The problem is August is international travel only, so I guess connection to an international flight would be okay, but I believe the run from AKL is up to TSV to get the best return. Never taken it myself.

Ah yes....very true, overlooked that.....I could probably do it in June, but I have some OS travel coming up for work, shame it is all in Economy. :(

Thanks to the double SC offer, I now need 95 SCs to retain Plat. So I need to find a cheap ($ and point cost, and least amt of time away from Syd) way to get 95 SCs. All I can come up with is a JASA eg Syd-Mel-Adl (80 SCs) for 24000 QF pts + $211, and then buy a cheap economy 1 way Adl-Syd flight (15Scs) for $115. Any better suggestions? Thanks...
