Qantas Business Class meals & menus

you will be able to have a look at the menu 7 days prior departure and pre select if you wish. Also having a look on a recent post on QF7/8, or looking at any US bound flight would give you some idea.

Okay, thanks! This is my first time flying Business class. I'm excited and don't know what to expect. I tried to get on a dreamliner but there was no award space at the time.

The refurbed 747 gives you more room, especially a seat in row 5.
Some people don't like space and prefer the smaller and newer 787 suite.
You're probably better off with the 747, while you still can.

Enjoy the ride!

Thank you @Kangol

I was initially booked on economy ticket. Got upgraded to J this afternoon.

I selected the veg option on Meal Select for economy. So when I got upgraded, I went back to Menu Select to select a business meal, but I couldn’t. So thought I’d ask this forum.

So an update to this. Just got back from my trip this morning via HKG. There are still a lot of flights that are cancelled or delayed out of HKG. I was on QF128, delayed for about 90 mins, arrived 75 mins delayed into SYD this morning. Passport control was a breeze (I was in the Other passports queue), baggage arrived in less than 5 mins.

On the food menu on QF127 SYD-HKG - the economy menu-select that I did was not available because I got upgraded to J on the afternoon before the day of travel. For some reason I couldn't select meals for J because menu-select wasn't working/available for the flight, prolly because it was within 24 hours of departure.

Anyways, on board, I was treated to a really good Pinot Noir with Mushroom Ragout, tomatoes & onion, sourdough on the side - tasted amazing and I totally enjoyed it. In addition to the mushroom, there was beef and chicked

Wine & Champagne selection was really good. Enjoyed chocolate & cherry mouse with a glass of dessert wine.

On the way back QF128 - was in Y - didn't get upgraded to J - meals wise, had the linguine with mushrooms ragu and a glass of Jacob's Creek sparkling white, thyme bread on the side - enjoyed it thoroughly as well

I took 5B exit row. I hear it's a single seat and meant to be quite spacious
It's the second best seat for a solo traveller. 5J is the best because you don't have everyone shuffling past you and knocking into you whilst boarding.
Separate side storage bin, too.

Photo is of the beef rendang which was tough.

Yet again the breakfast card was nowhere to be seen. I had fruit and yoghurt.

Monday saw the International Business Class menus change (except Tasman/NOU).

There are some new changes across the network that I thought I'd point out.
Some flights/aircraft may have a slightly different offering but otherwise it is pretty standard across the network.

- The business class bar snack, where a bar is offered, is the (now previous) first class smoked almonds (PER/LHR/PER still has a hot canapé with bar)
- First Class has a new mixed nut mix
- A new coughtail is available (including on most flights without a bar service). This varies but the current coughtail ex AUS is a cold pressed lychee, agave, raspberry, lemon, ginger and hibiscus blend with vodka.
- Flights to/from Japan now have a Japanese set menu on a brand new range of Noritake crockery including a bento box, miso bowl, chop stick holder, rice bowl, tea cup etc.

Whilst there are variations to the menu some of the more common dishes ex AUS are:
To Start:
Moroccan spiced carrot soup with coriander yoghurt
Salad of white cut chicken with wombok, daikon, shallots, sesame and black vinegar dressing
Prawn and corn fritters with tomato and cucumber salsa

Mains:
Tomato orzo with zucchini, slow roasted tomatoes, chilli and marinated goat's feta
Chicken schnitzel and Swiss cheese toasted sandwich with coleslaw
Jiangxi style Humpty Doo barramundi with seasonal greens, sesame seeds and jasmine rice
Beef fillet with red wine sauce, roasted potatoes, green peas and herbed garlic butter

New coughtail sounds good.

Hopefully the F mixed nut mix is better.
The smoked almonds were pretty good - probably one of the best F nut offerings out there.

Thanks for the info. Will the Tasman bar service also change in time, do you know?

Not that anything seemed to go to plan with the last 'change-over' of trans-Tasman menus, is it still expected that they will all progressively change from mid this month (by all I mean in both directions)? Or will the delay from the last period mean we'll just skip a cycle. Appreciate you may not know, or want to hazard a guess given last time!

Cheers.

I've long spoken about it after posting and posting pictures of trans Tasman Qantas meals on this thread but I've finally strayed around and have now tried all of Qantas trans-Tasman competitors several times in J. I've posted a detailed report over here under trip reports

A tale of 4 (formerly 5) airlines

I'm not only reviewing the food but all other aspects of the flights as well. Food wise, AirNZ is a clear winner (together with Emirates, if you're lucky enough to fly Sydney-Christchurch) over both Qantas and Virgin with the latter being from top to bottom a horrible airline, much much worse than what some fanboys here on this forum make it sound. Drinks are quite decent on all of them apart Virgin with the South American wines on Latam being among my favorites.

But please feel free to read my whole thread and I'm keen for any comments or challenges. Like my food reviews on here, it's all based on personal preference and taste :p

Don’t fly QF J very often but a few months ago I purchased ADL-SYD-CHC during a Business sale period on the EK codeshare. Have been underwhelmed with the last couple of QF J meals but must say Tuesday nights ADL-SYD dinner offering pleasantly shocked me.
Roast pork with paprika dressing, Zucchini, Roasted Onion and spinach. The pork was moist and tender with plenty of taste, the dressing was superb as was the roasted onions. Spinach was flavourless and quite average but as a whole the dish was excellent. Ginger and Fig cake was quite tasty aswell. Service was absolutely superb and the alcohol flowed very freely. PB in ADL still a shambles but all in all a decent flight.

There are changes to Domestic J from tomorrow for services outside the normal meal bands for Short and Medium length flights. Applies for flights mostly between 0831-1159, 1400-1729, 2001-0459.

Sounds mysterious. Any clue on what these may be? Enhancements? 😀
