Qantas domestic economy meals

Im not diabetic, so i want the dessert, which is fine if you eat protein first, skip bread/pasta/rice.

But a good friend is diabetic and having seen that the bland low protein meal she received that is not the answer. I was amazed how much more processed and carby the diabetic meal was.

Back in the day the Ansett whYd standard breaky of a real egg, beef sausage, bacon, tomato, mushrooms and a hasbrown was great breaky.

Beef/pork/Lamb (as meatballs, curry/stew, steak) and veg (pumpkin/potato, brocoli, cauliflower, zuchini) would be great for Lunch/Dinner. Offer bread roll for the carb obsessed but the pasta/rice is imo empty calories.

Pumpkin and broccoli are not holiday foods.

The Poke salad with chicken is actually quite tasty and better than some of the vego J meals as has a decent portion of protein.

Pumpkin and broccoli are not holiday foods.

I've eaten plenty of broccoli and pumpkin whilst on holidays, amongst my top 5 favourite vegetables provided they accompany meat.

Also not everyone flying is on holidays, many are travelling for work and often relying on onboard meals given work constraints mean they may not have had time to eat before or after.

CSM mentioned we were receiving a light refreshment. In this case, we got the beef ragu and mushroom pie. The CSM helped serve in the Y cabin and was most enthusiastically encouraging everyone to give the pie a go.

It was tasty but I think the description of the filling oversold it a bit for me. The filling was so minced up, I don't think you could sell to me that there was mushroom. But... it was a tasty pie. Tomato sauce (ketchup) was also given for those so inclined - you had to pour it out of the mini-tub (it did pour). Note - this was sauce, not relish and not chutney.

Every passenger also received a Lindt ball, as well as drink of choice. The CSM was very nice to offer a cup of sparkling white from J to me before, then going on that idea he proactively offered me the Y white, which was a Pinot Grigio (in his opinion, a superior white compared to the J offering).

What was offered was fine for an apero/aperitif/apertivo. This is not a meal, unless your idea of dinner is minimal.

It says Handmade in the photo, not Homemade
most certainly not home made,
and plenty of machinery involved in the whole process,
to complete the finished item.
i just bought a roast chicken and bacon sandwich
only because Coles had reduced it from $8.0 to $2.40
i doubt the ingredients even cost $2.40
upon disection for photographing, I found
2 small pieces of very thin bacon in each sandwich
the rest appeared to be a squirt of a chicken concoction,
and 2 pieces bread
eminently forgettable although the dog liked it.
Coles cart these Queensland made sandwiches the length and breadth of the eastern seaboard, their environmental credentials lost in transit..

Coles don’t cart anything, their moved into the distribution supplier from the manufacturer (generally PFD) and are delivered along with other non ambient stock on a daily basis, same supplier does Caltex and BP but not the old Cole’s express network.
