Virgin boss John Borghetti has sent a clear message to counterpart Alan Joyce - Qantas doesn't have a monopoly on grenades.
Borghetti hurled one directly into the Qantas camp - a warning that unfettered bad-mouthing can have legal consequences.
Leon Zwier, the legendary tough man of commercial law, has been briefed by Virgin - although at this stage it is not clear whether Borghetti will even fire off a legal letter.

Another interesting piece of this puzzle - the AFR has reported that the ACCC has been investigating since August whether Qantas' "line in the sand" policy constitutes abuse of market power.

ACCC lines up Qantas for inquiry

This could explain why QF has waited until 18 months after the VA restructure to launch its campaign - although of course the rights issue is perhaps a better media platform for a campaign because it shows action rather than just intent.

I hope there are no grenades near or on my plane!!
Lawyers are best left out of these type of things; they are usually the only winners.
