On Sunday 8 November, QF51 (A332 VH-EBB, the 1035 hours BNE up to SIN) took off at 1114 with gate arrival forecast for 1718 hours, 43 minutes behind schedule.

On Saturday 7, B738 VH-VZR operated QF119, the 0830 hours BNE-AKL that arrived 66 minutes late at 1551 hours at its gate. It formed the 1605 hours CHC-SYD (QF146) that was more heavily delayed, arriving at 1942, 122 minutes behind schedule. Worst of all though was its next rostered offering, QF139, the evening 1855 hours SYD-CHC that was delayed overnight, not taking off until 0941 hours on Sunday 8, and arriving at its CHC gate at 1425 hours, 866 minutes late. It is currently running QF132, the timetabled Sunday 0620 hours CHC-BNE not airborne until 1528 this afternoon NZ time, with Brisbane gate arrival estimated at 1558 instead of 0710 hours, so 588 minutes behind schedule.

Report on airliners.net that 332 VH-EBJ had its wing impacted by air stairs at MEL. Obviously compounds issues with 787 VH-ZND also out per lightning hit as above.

A bad day for QF at Brisbane. Anyone know what VH-X4C diverted to Canberra earlier today while flying MEL-CFS? It's made my MEL flight 90 mins late tonight. While waiting, QF97 has just returned to Brisbane about four hours after departing on its way to Manila. A long day to go nowhere for those folks. Anyone know what's wrong with VH-EBK?

In more on Sunday 8 December, the evening SYD-windy WLG QF163 (B738 VH-VZV) that is a scheduled 1840 hours departure took off at 1951. Expected gate arrival on Monday 9 becomes 0043 hours, 53 minutes late.

These evening flights across the ditch are best avoided (if possible) by businessmen and women who have 0900 or 0930 NZ time meetings the next morning, as it's not uncommon for these 'end of day' flights to suffer from earlier compounding delays. Arriving at one's hotel at 0230 or 0300 is not my idea of fun.

QF97 has just returned to Brisbane about four hours after departing on its way to Manila. A long day to go nowhere for those folks. Anyone know what's wrong with VH-EBK?

At a guess, as you are implying, this is unlikely to be a medical diversion because the aircraft turned back close to CNS, which would have most medical needs covered. It would be great to have further information.

There isn't any sign of a typhoon in the Philippine(s) area of responsibility.

A332 VH-EBR on the 1655 hours Sunday 8 QF37 from MEL to SIN was airborne at 1801 so gate arrival should be around the 2250 hours mark, 45 late.

Looks like QF97 will now be departing 23 hours 55 minutes later than originally scheduled (with an aircraft swap from EBK to EBG?)
