Qantas Delays/Cancellations

The problem is that bed bugs are often pesticide resistant, and the eggs will hatch after about a week.

Yes, I've since read from an Australian expert with 25 years' experience studying bed bugs that among insects, they are the most resistant to spraying.

Apparently they hide in crevices and need an expensive deep clean to 'depart this world'.

13 Oct QF 11 SYD-LAX cancelled.

This is due to A388 VH-OQL on Sunday 11 October having diverted to PER on QF64 ex JNB, and then not arriving in SYD until 2224 hours.

Then on Monday 12 it operated a QF7011, nominally a 1430 hours scheduled departure ex SYD, arriving LAX with passengers at 1057 hours. Nex up was QF7012, a 1300 hours LAX-SYD that took off at 1359 with arrival due in SYD at gate at 2147 hours tonight, Tuesday 13. Hence it wouldn't make curfew in Sydney if trying to run 'the 11'.

A388 VH-OQI that arrived in Sydney last night at 1822 hours, 147 minutes late as QF64 from JNB is the expected motive power for Wednesday 14 October's QF7, the 1300 hours SYD up and across to DFW.

The latter is however not forecast to depart until 1500 mid afternoon.

Colleague -OQB is rostered on QF63, the 1035 hours SYD-JNB suggested as departing at 1145 hours.

QF7 eventually departed SYD and airborne at 1540 for DFW, 160mins late, with arrival into DFW now anticipated to be 1432, 122 mins late.
OQB was airborne at 1225 for its shift operating QF63

Wednesday 14 October saw QF64, the 1845 hours JNB-SYD redeye not taking off until 2022 hours due to its late arrival as QF63. On Thursday 15, gate arrival should be about 1653, 58 minutes late for A388 VH-OQB.

Also on 14 October, B789 VH-ZNF on the 1505 hours SYD across to PER QF5 was not in the sky until 2059, arriving at gate at 2213 hours, 313 minutes late. The second sector to FCO in Italy was airborne at 2351 hours with Thursday 15 gate arrival forecast as 1029 hours, 254 late. This will delay the scheduled 1045 hours FCO down to PER QF6.

Separately, B789 VH-ZNH on the 15 October QF6 from PER to SYD is predicted to push back at 1145 hours, 75 late despite arriving from FCO this morning 18 minutes early at 0837 hours.

Yesterday, Wednesday 14 October, A388 VH-OQL operated an oddly timed QF7012 ex LAX, the 1040 hours that didn't take off until 1224. On Thursday 15, gate arrival at SYD should be approximately 2019 hours. This is actually a good schedule, rather than the horrible early morning arrivals in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane that are typical of almost all airlines' schedules from the USA.

-OQL is to quickly turn around and form a much delayed (scheduled to depart at 1545) SYD-SIN-LHR QFi, altered to optimistically depart tonight at 2200. Possible, but usually A380 turnarounds take more than 100 minutes. Perhaps 2230 or a bit later may be more realistic.

FR24 suggests the second sector of QF1 that normally departs SIN at 2320 hours will be delayed to Friday 16 at the unpleasant hour of 0450 hours. A long night ahead for both ex-SYD and ex-SIN pax.

Sister aircraft -OQG has been in LAX since 12 October's QF93 ex MEL.

-OQJ is shortly supposedly to depart maintenance hub German's DRS for LHR at 1000 German time.

There was no spare A380 in Sydney to allow QFi to depart punctually today: -OQB is rostered for the 1850 hours QF11 from SYD to LAX.

Except the late arrival of the 7012 has resulted in a number of missed connections to places like CBR/ADL.
