Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Updating Monday 20 July, QF19 (1225 hours SYD-MNL) may be formed, probably unexpectedly, by A333 VH-QPD on the badly delayed QF128 from HKG to SYD that arrived at 1425 hours, 460 minutes late. Strangely, FR24 also shows VH-QPG operating QF19: it cannot be both.

The 'original' delay to 'the 19' was for a departure at 1400 hours this afternoon,. This then became a hoped for 1530 hours, but has ballooned to 1730 hours. Thankfully MNL doesn't have a night time curfew.

QF20 from MNL to SYD tonight will depart some time after 0100 hours on Tuesday 21. Impossible to be anything close to definitive until QF19's airborne time is reached.

A333 VH-QPL on the HNL down to SYD QF104 should arrive at its gate tonight at about 2015 hours, 105 minutes behind schedule. QF103 - the timetabled 2015 hours SYD back up to HNL - is predicted to depart mid evening at 2130, 75 late. If 'the 104' forms 'the 103', this is yet another example of an over optimistic departure time being promulgated.

This move makes more sense from a network and big picture perspective the NRT - BNE route has always been a lot lower on demand than the MEL routes.

It'll majorly suck for everyone booked on board, but probably has lower impact comparatively. Also i do notice they swap the BNE/MEL aircrafts regularly at NRT regardless of delay as well.

The overnight delayed QF62 from NRT down to BNE has become tardier, with a new suggested departure on Monday 20 July in a few minutes at 1515 hours instead of 1430. The plane should be class leader A333 VH-QPA. See post 18285 above for why it was so badly delayed.

Hope these passengers are compensated thoroughly for such a long delay

More delay for the hugely late QF62, with 1630 at Narita, Tokyo the latest revision on Monday 20 July.

QF19 turned out to be A333 VH-QPD. It pushed back at 1740 hours, 315 minutes late and was airborne at 1757. Gate arrival is estimated as 2325 hours, 275 minutes late.

If it doesn't gain any more time enroute, that should see the southbound QF20 departing at approximately 0105 hours on Tuesday 21, although QFi is estimating '0040'.

These passengers wont be happy whatsoever! they would be mad as hell and i wont take it anymore!

The overnight delayed QF62 from NRT to BNE has again been revised: new departure time of 1730 hours, a further hour's delay. Is this due to unavailability of a departure slot at this busy Japanese airport, or some other reason?

Anything could happen and let’s hope it’s just slots, NOT because of QPA and it’s aging frame!!!

Getting beyond a joke.

Another announced further delay to QF62 with A333 VH-QPA: a 1930 hours proposed Narita Airport pushback (2030 AEST), This means a BNE arrival at gate tomorrow around 0500 hours, assuming no further delays.

If the pilots and cabin crew signed on Tokyo time at say 1330 or 1400 hours, it must be frustrating for them as well as the patrons. Thankfully pilots aren't yet super close to exceeding their duty limit, but sitting around and having continual revisions to a proposed time to depart must eventually start to be tiring.

The silver lining is thus far, the flight hasn't been cancelled - touch wood.

A388 VH-OQL on QF8, the Sunday 19 July late night 2255 hours DFW to SYD took off on Monday 20 at 0027, with Tuesday 21 gate arrival predicted for 0729 hours, 34 minutes late.

Just prior to 1930 Japanese time, the overnight delayed QF62 that is supposed to depart now is not visible on the FR24 map.

This is often a bad sign (i.e. a greater delay than forecast will occur), although @jb747 kindly pointed out ages ago that transponder signals are sometimes obscured by buildings.

QFi's flight status remains showing a '1930 hours' pushback for A333 VH-QPA.

UPDATE: By 1940 local time, -QPA was appearing on FR24. The flight looks to have the designation of QF62D.

It departed at 1941.

On Monday 20 July, A333 VH-QPD as QF19 from SYD arrived at its MNL gate at 2344 hours, 294 minutes late. It then took off on the 2035 MNL-SYD QF20 at 0135 hours on Tuesday 21 with arrival to be about 1054 this morning, 249 minutes behind schedule.

Sister -QPL is on its fifth round trip between SYD and HNL. QF103 last night (the 2015 hours) was airborne at 2214, arriving HNL at 1144, 109 minutes late. QF104 returning to Sydney is showing as a hoped for pushback of 1305 hours in HNL: this may be a little optimistic.
Hey according to flight radar 24 - ETA is 0509 tomorrow

The delayed overnight QF62 from Japan's NRT arrived on Tuesday 21 July in BNE at 0538 at gate, 1308 minutes late. A333 VH-QPA had the task.

Monday 20 July's QF6 from Italy's FCO down to PER, the 1045 hours with B789 VH-ZNN, did not take off until 1220 hours so on Tuesday 21, expected gate arrival in the West Australian capital becomes 0943 hours, 48 minute slate.
