Qantas Delays/Cancellations

VH-OQG is currently flying LHR-LAX, presumably to re-enter regular service, or perhaps a little service at the QF hanger at LAX. That will leave just OQI at Dresden for a while longer.

On Saturday 11 July, QF6, the scheduled FCO-PER was cancelled but QF7006 has operated in lieu with B789 VH-ZNA. It took off from Rome at 2200 hours with PER gate arrival tonight forecast as 1816 hours, 556 minutes later than the timetabled normal arrival in Perth of 0855 hours. I assume it won't be operating through to Sydney as it would miss curfew by hours.

On Sunday 12, the 0945 hours MEL-LAX (today meant to be a B789) has been cancelled.

QF81, the 1020 hours SYD-SIN (A388 VH-OQJ) was airborne at 1123 hours so gate arrival will be about 1732 in the late afternoon, 37 behind.

The 1105 hours BNE up to SIN, QF51, took off at 1204 hours with class leader A333 VH-QPAQ. Gate arrival looks to be 33 minutes behind schedule at 1758 hours.

QF239 is a (relatively new?) 'second division' SYD-BKK offering. On Sunday 12 A332 VH_EBR has charge of this 1105 hours offering that departed at 1150, taking off at 1211 for anticipated gate arrival tonight at 1907, 72 late.

SYD is down to using a single runway, the east-west, as at 1215 hours on Sunday 12 July.

Sunday mornings are relatively quiet for domestic flights but one ought expect some delays as afternoon domestic flights ramp up, depending on how long the single runway is in use.

In more on Sunday 12 July, A333 VH-QPH on the 1115 hours late morning SYD-HND in Japan (QF59) was in the sky at 1208 hours with gate arrival suggested as 2046 mid evening, 36 late.

The 1225 hours SYD-MNL (QF19) has A333 VH-QPC on its second consecutive trip to the Philippine capital. Yesterday it arrived at its gate 55 minutes late at 1945: today it took off at 1322 with arrival suggested as 1927 hours, 37 late.

QF112 from AKL to PER (A332 VH-EBV) is the 11 July 0940 hours airborne at 1024. Arrival looks to be 1337 hours, 37 behind.

Saturday 11's QF1 arrived SIN at 2152 hours, 37 minutes late with A388 VH-OQL. It spent excess time in Singapore, taking off on Sunday 12 at 0103 hours with gate arrival at LHR expected at 0739 hours, 64 minutes past the allotted.

Continuing with Sunday 12 July, QF157, the evening 1830 hours MEL-AKL (B738 VH-XZG) was in the sky at 1944 so Monday 13 gate arrival should be about 0101 hours, 51 minutes behind schedule.

VH-QPI
A330 operated the QF79 MEL-NRT 11/7/26 but did not operate the return QF80 that same evening
Instead it operated QF80 12/7/26 and nearly hit the NRT 23:00 curfew. It managed to depart with 13 minutes to spare.
I understand the airline kept revising estimated departure times.

I only posted because I found it interesting there were 2x QF80 that same evening
The scheduled 12/7/26 operated by VH-QPF which departed at 21:05 and the one operated by QPI scheduled for 11/7/26 but delayed until 22:47 12/7/26

I wonder what their call signs were when communicating with ATC. Both could not be "Qantas 80" as they were only 1:42 apart on departure and 1:48 apart on arrival

Social media suggests many passengers slept in NRT night of 11/7/26 (Im not reposting photos of sleeping passengers
I dont understand why QF did not arrange accom given that there was no way of departing between 2300 11/7/26 and 0060 12/7/26

VH-QPF retained QFA80 whilst VH-QPI carried QFA80D

On Monday 13 July, QF79 (0935 hours MEL-NRT) with A333 VH-QPE took off at 1054. Arrival at gate should be 1947 hours, 47 minutes late.

Sister -QPH is on QF59, the 1115 hours SYD-HND, also in Japan, up up and away at 1205 for suggested gate arrival tonight at 2042 hours, 32 behind.

A388 VH_OQL on QF2 is estimated to arrive SIN tonight at around 1847 hours, 77 minutes late as on Sunday 12 it didn't take off until 2322 hours. It must have had an exemption from curfew at LHR.

A332 VH-EBG on QF97, the Sunday 12 July 1425 hours BNE-MNL took off at 1526, arriving at 2119 hours mid evening, 54 late. However an overnight stay has been required for passengers and crew as the scheduled 2145 hours MNL-BNE has been delayed 25 hours to a proposed 2245 hours pushback tonight. I hope accommodation has been provided for patrons, unlike the Tokyo Narita situation outlined by @Quickstatus above.

On Monday 13. EBG was to operate QF51, the 1105 hours 13 July BNE-SIN but this was cancelled. QF52, tonight's 2030 hours SIN-BNE also gets the chop.

B789 VH-ZND on the 2150 hours Sunday 12 July QF94 from LAX down to MEL was in the sky at 0012 on Monday 13, so Tuesday 14 gate arrival should be 0809 hours, 84 minutes late. Tomorrow's QF93 back to LAX is scheduled to be an A380; otherwise, this late running '94' would have at least slightly delayed QF93.

Tomorrow’s QF93 is a B789 but there is a spare (ZNA) on the ground due to Sunday’s cancellation of QF93 (which was due to the delayed return from Rome QF6).
