Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Last minute delay announced for QF82 (notified around 5pm), 14 hour delay expected from 9pm 3 May to 11am 4 May.

Inbound aircraft QF81 was pretty much on time.

Flight is now scheduled to arrive at 2029 instead of 0645

It looks like A388 VH-OQC is to operate QF11, the 1750 hours late afternoon SYD-LAX optimistically altered to depart tonight at 2220 hours.

QF82 arrived SYD at 2010, not 2029. 130 minutes for an A380 turnaround is unlikely in Sydney: generally takes longer.

QF11 was able to take off at 2238 - maybe the late night departure was the saviour of close to updated departure as possible??

On Friday 8 May 2026, QF27 (B789 VH_ZNG), the 1220 hours SYD across to SCL took off at 1402 hours so arrival same day should be at about 1139, 49 late.

QF19 (1225 hours SYD up to MNL, A332 VH-EBM for the second day running) was airborne at 1401. Gate arrival is for4ecast for 2010 hours, 80 late.

The 1115 hours SYD-HND in Japan took off at 1310 so gate arrival becomes 2135 hours, 85 minutes tardy for A333 VH-QPB.

A333 VH-QPG is on QF127, the scheduled 1010 hours SYD-HKG airborne at 1207 with gate arroval about 1914, 79 minutes tardy.

A388 VH_OQD is on QF7, the 1200 'high noon' SYD-DFW in the sky at 1333 hours. Arrival looks to be 1310, 40 behind.

Presumably these delays were due to single runway ops. Tonight SYD is back to using the two main runways.

On Tuesday 12 March, QF255, the SIN-CDG flight arrived at its gate at 1142 hours, 342 minutes late with B789 VH-ZNI.

It then formed QF34, the resumed nonstop to PER where arrival at gate on Wednesday 13 was at 1145 hours, 170 late. It's showing as likely to depart for SYD at 1340 hours, 190 minutes behind schedule.

UPDATE: Qf34 took off from PER at 1400 hours with SYD gate arrival due at around 1946 hours, 201 minutes behind schedule.

ZNI is to form QF75, the long haul 2030 hours SYD-YVR in Canada. FR24 claims this will depart at 2105 hours. It would surprise if this became the case: 2130 or later is more likely if past turnaround comparisons are any guide for this size of plane.

On Thursday 14 May, B789 VH-ZNA arrived ex YVR in SYD as QF76 at 0649 hours, 14 minutes late.

It was then requisitioned to fly down to MEL empty ('ferry' flight) with QF6004 taking off at 0839 hours, arriving at gate in the southern capital at 0946 hour.

It then formed QF93, the 0945 hours scheduled MEL to LAX airborne at 1132. Same day arrival is forecast for 0811 hours, 66 late. Creditable in the circumstances. I looked at every B789 but could not see one sitting in MEL having failed, so perhaps this episode just shows that QFi is running close to the bone.

On 10 May 2026 B789 VH-ZNL operated empty from MEL to SYD as QF6002 and then to HKG (QF6009) but presumably that's for an important check as part of scheduled maintenance, and unrelated to today's 'shortage'. Maybe some AFFers such as @Harrison_133 know more.
