The diverted and overnight delayed QF63 is now expected to shortly depart MEL at 1200 'high noon' on Saturday 6 December, though it isn't displaying at the airfield on FR24.

Well my two staff on Norfolk have been delayed 24 hours (arguably in paradise). Fortunately our office staff on Norfolk sorted their accommodation.

Today will see both QF179 ex SYD and QF183 ex BNE operate.

You may be correct, although one would hope not, given VH-OQC has flown long distances since its lengthy AUH refurbishment, and QF has publicised it as being back, resulting in a few glowing media articles.

But nothing much QF does ought surprise. After all, it's the "world's best airline managers" as Alan Joyce looked in the mirror to constantly remind himself. Little change under Vanessa Hudson.


Given how QF11 SYD-LAX is cancelled on Saturday 6 December, this may prove to be one of @jb747 's most prescient observations. Time will tell.

As a side issue, given Christmas and school holidays are approaching (and for many school students and all at uni, already the case), it must be more difficult by the day to quickly find 400 spare seats on QFi or other airlines when an A380 flight is given the flick.

QF11 results in QF94 being cancelled as well.

Yes, the delayed overnight QF63D took off from MEL at 1414 hours, far later than forecast pushback at 1130 hours on Saturday 6 December. JNB gate arrival should be at 1834 hours.

The Qantas app has it scheduled for my qf12 on 7 December. Hopefully the mess clears up or my upgrade request won’t happen.

In another 6 December delay, QF93 (1200 'high noon' MEL-LAX, A388 VH_OQD) was in the sky at 1529 with same day arrival suggested at gate as 1015 hours, 170 minutes late.

Friday’s QF64 (the return from the QF63 that diverted to Melbourne) is cancelled.

Not sure how the aircraft will return to Australia. Presumably they have a crew issue as the crew will be in the wrong location for 24 hours due to the diversion.

The Saturday 6 December QF93 (1200 'high noon' MEL to LAX) with A388 VH-OQD took off at 1529 hours, arriving LAX at 1010 hours, 165 minutes behind schedule.

Sister -OQL on yesterday's scheduled 1655 hours MEL to SIN (QF37) was not airborne until 1641 hours, arriving in Lion City at 2334 hours, 89 late. The return QF38 (the 2340 hours) took off on Sunday 7 at 0138 hours so gate arrival should be about 1132 hours, 77 minutes late.

-OQA on the SIN-LHR QF1 on Sunday should arrive at 0703 hours, 48 late.

In more on Sunday 7 December 2025, QF37 (1655 hours late afternoon MEL up to SIN, A333 VH-QPE) is expected to push back at 1845, 110 minutes late. The plane had operated empty down from SYD to MEL as QF6003, arriving at 1336 hours.

QF76 (B789 VH-ZNB) from YVR down to SYD should arrive on Monday 8 at about 0710 hours, 35 late.

QF27 today, the often punctual 1220 hours lunchtime SYD across to SCL did not become airborne until 1342 hours, so gate arrival looks to be 1141 hours, 46 late for B789 VH-ZNE. The return flight is almost always on time or early, as a fairly generous turnaround allowance is the case in Santiago de Chile.

The AKL to JFK QF3 long haul has sister aircraft -ZNJ that with its forecast 1503 hours arrival in 'The Big Apple' would be 38 late.

Continuing with Sunday 7 DEcember 2025, QF104 ex HNL (A333 VH_QPK again) is about to arrive at 1940 hours, 80 minutes late.

Meanwhile the QF331/332 rotations are back to LHR. OQI operating Sunday nights one albeit late.

And it didn’t take long for OQC to be pressed into service operating Sunday’s QF11.

QF474 MEL>SYD yesterday was delayed and then cancelled due to weather disruptions, I assume bushfire smoke in SYD
QF468 amd QF470 departed delayed but did arrive
I was scheduled on the cancelled flight had I not checked the app early and accepted the fly forward request

Coming back as QF7064 arrives SYD Monday afternoon..

The flight number is correct - many thanks - but there was an aircraft swap in Johannesburg.

A388 VH-OQJ,. the aircraft that had diverted to MEL, arrived JNB at 1807 hours on Saturday 6 as QF63D and then took off for SYD as the 'regular' QF64 at 2133 hours on Sunday 7 with arrival in SYD at gate estimated for Monday 8 December at 1807 hours, 217 minutes later than scheduled arrival at 1430 hours.

Meanwhile VH-OQB operated the normal QF63 on Sunday 7, arriving JNB at 1454 hours, six minutes early, with it then taking off at 1741 as QF7064. SYD arrival on Monday 8 should be at about 1343 hours at gate.
