It’s definitely technical if cancelled but let’s see when this aircraft is back to service… and as I said - these planes have been run to the ground (figuratively speaking)

They want them to hang around until the 2030 ish mark they don’t they? Not many run 330s up to the 3rd heavy check.

A333 VH-QPH arrived MEL on Sunday 10 August at 0715 hours, 10 minutes early as QF30 overnight from HKG, but is delayed until 1500 hours in pushback on QF35, the timetabled 1205 hours MEL-SIN.

The expected delay has become 265 minutes, as the new nominal departure is at 1630 hours this afternoon (Sunday 10).

Delays aren't enjoyable, but at the least they found out something was not 100% early on, and not 4-5hrs into the flight.

@tomlee1986 , Channel 7 news - watched by many on Sunday nights - had a brief story about this.

If the A333 remains out of service tomorrow, is QF easily able to substitute a 'domestic' A332 out of SYD for whatever flight VH_QPJ had been rostered for?

Not ideal: IIRC, the A332s lack proper 'international' crew rest facilities.

Update for 11/08 QF29 - they are using the OLDEST A333 available QPA for today’s service to HKG, and QPJ is doing a empty service to SYD as QF6001 -scheduled to depart at 1005 as per flight radar 24

Also QF127 to HKG from SYD is using A332 today on EBQ - delayed departure to 1115 instead of 1020

Update: QF127 took off SYD at 1150 - 90 mins late, arrive at HKG 54 mins late at 1854 instead of 1800 on EBQ A332

QF29 to HKG from MEL took off at 1113 - 53 mins late and now 20 mins late to HKG on QPA A333

Long delay for QF10 today, both the 789 and 380 parked next to each other at LHR.

The Sunday 10 August QF10 (timetabled at 1155 hours ex LHR express to PER) took off at 2037. PER likely gate arrival becomes Monday 11 at around 2001 hours, 491 minutes late.

It looks like this will delay QF33, the early evening 1935 hours PER-CDG in France with it optimistically expected to depart at 2135, two hours behind schedule.

Why initial notifications of likely pushback delays seem not to take into account past performamce remains a mystery. AI? I'm not suggesting it's impossible to turn around B789 in 90 minutes, but it is most unlikely. There's so many tasks to occur: removing food waste and provisioning the galley, cleaners waiting until the last passenger is off QF10, pre-flight checks by the Captain or others, loading and unloading of ULDs containing luggage or freight and dare I miss it, refuelling. Plus the inevitable search for the 'last to board'.

In more unpunctuality on the London to Perth route, the Monday 11 August 2025 QF10 (due out at 1155 hours) was airborne at 0852 on Tuesday 12 with B789 VH-ZNK. Wednesday 13 arrival at gate in PER should be at about 0747 hours, 1197 minutes late.

It doesn't seem to be delaying any international flights out of PER so perhaps (for once) there was a spare available.

On Thursday 14 August, QF127, the 1020 hours SYD up to HKG with A333 VH-QPD is expected to depart at 1210 hours. The aircraft arrived in SYD this morning four minutes early at 0641 as QF128 from HKG, but overnight. No obvious reason for the delay, but perhaps @tomlee1986 may (again) consider it's an ageing Airbus A330-300 that constantly has maintenance issues.

QFi's HKG routes have had far more late running in the last few months than I can recall in a decade plus of compiling delays.

Stablemate -QPA is on QF59, the scheduled 1105 hours SYD-HND in japan, altered to hopefully push back at 1200 'high noon'.
