B789 VH-ZNK on QF6 yesterday was airborne from FCO (Rome) at 1323 hours so PER arrival today should be approximately 1108 hours, 158 minutes late. Very optimistically, FR24 suggests that the scheduled 1000 hours leg across to SYD will depart at 1200 'high noon' (1400 AEST). QF5 tonight (1820 hours ex SYD) remains showing as punctual.

Qantas is now showing this onward QF6 PER-SYD sector as cancelled.

Edit : Qantas is now also showing today's QF5 SYD-PER sector as cancelled, so whatever is causing the delay to ZNK, it appears to be able to turn around to take QF5 to FCO later today.

Today's QF10 PER-MEL (B789 VH-ZNI) sector is delayed 65 minutes to 14:15 AWST, with the LHR-PER sector having arrived just 4 minutes late. Possibly impacted by the QF6 delay/cancellation.
Qantas is showing the same delay holding through to Melbourne for a 19:45 AEST arrival, although these eastwards flights usually make up time.

Edit : QF10 eventually pushed back at 14:23 AWST, with no change to the Melbourne arrival time. This leaves just 40 minutes for the change over to QF93 MEL-LAX, which is still showing an on time Melbourne departure of 20:25 AEST. Unlikely.

As expected the QF93 departure was delayed, ZNI eventually pushing back at 21:48 AEST, 83 minutes late. Arrival into Los Angeles is expected to be 95 minutes late at 18:20 PST Wednesday.

Hah, my last two trips to the UK (since Covid) were the day Putin closed the airspace on QF9 whilst we were on route to Darwin from Syd, which was delayed and changed routes. Then the diverted QF1 to Athens caused me to be delayed 24hrs on QF2 (which got longer with dom connections).

I’m booked to catch QF1 Sin-Lon tomorrow (after taking QF35 up Mel-Sin. Looks like that may be delayed…

I think I may be cursed.

I initially did not realise that they landed back during curfew at LHR - so that might come with a hefty fee payment?

I was on the ill fated QF2 flight.. We got as far as Budapest and then Capt informed us that 2 Navigation systems had failed and he was not prepared to proceed. So we returned back to LHR landing about 1.30am.... at which point a S%^T storm occurred.. Obviously the curfew was in effect so no one around.. There was 3-4 people trying to manage a fully loaded A380 of people and placing them into hotels.....which due to Wimbledon etc were at an absolute minimum. They deplaned folks by section of the plane.... I was in 11A, so was in 2nd group off and we stood around for around 90 minutes as staff tried to find hotels and transportation...equally as hard.. When they started talking about taking people to hotels at London City airport I took matters into my own control and managed to get one of the last rooms at the Mariott LHR (Sofitel, Hilton, Sheraton etc all fully booked). God knows how long it would have taken for people right at the back of Y to get sorted. We got to the hotel around 3.30am.... Am now back at LHR and were informed that QF2 from yesterday is scheduled to depart at 21.55 tonight... 12 hours to spend in T3 at the multiple lounges I guess... and I still dont have a connection flight to Mel.. I am P1, flying in J so again with end of school holidays and all flights jam packed, I would not like to have zero status..in Y..... the saga continues....

So just got the bad news, I’ve been upgraded on my QF1 leg, but it’s delayed 24hrs. Which puts me in Singapore for 30+hrs from when Qf35 gets there tomorrow which will be fun!

Interesting, was told by First checking at Mel that option was stay in Mel and fly tomorrow or 30hrs in Singapore. Speak to the lounge about accomodation, qantas will either sort or pay $200, took the Singapore option.

Now told by the lounge that qantas won’t cover anything towards accommodation. Going to get to Singapore and see what the go is.

My ticket is Hobart to London, had flown first leg prior to delay, so they should compensate…

Catching up on Qantas B789 delays since my last post ...

Thursday saw delays to QF7 SYD-DFW with a small flow-on delay to the return QF8; and to QF6 FCO-PER, which had arrived on time with QF5.

Friday saw delays to QF63/QF64; a flow on delay to QF6 PER-SYD; delays on both sectors of QF9; plus the QF10 PER-MEL and the flow-on QF93 delays reported by 'jrfsp' prior to QF2 gaining attention.

Saturday improved for the B789 fleet with just one added delay : a flow-on delay for QF10 LHR-PER.

Sunday morning, things deteriorated as QF63 SYD-JNB had a departure delay of 225 minutes with a flow on to the return QF64 of an estimated 200 minutes, and that delay holding through to the estimated arrival back into Sydney at 16:45 AEST Monday.

QF27 SYD-SCL was also impacted with a departure delay of 205 minutes and a flow on to the return QF28 departure of an estimated 160 minutes, again shown as holding through to the Sydney arrival at 20:40 AEST Monday.

The Friday delay to QF10 LHR-PER flowed on to the PER-MEL sector with arrival in Melbourne expected to be 21:08 AEST this evening, 148 minutes late. This in turn flows through to QF93 MEL-LAX with an estimated Melbourne departure of 22:50 AEST, 145 minutes late, this delay shown as holding through to arrival in Los Angeles at 20:20 PST Sunday.

Further delays can be expected before being absorbed by the reduced Tuesday schedule (15 vs 18/19 flights on other days)

Update, in Singapore, they ARE putting us up, which has made for a few unhappy passengers whom when advised to do so, booked accommodation in Singapore… I’m off to the Sheraton Towers and then hopefully London tomorrow night.

Good luck with the UK comp from Qantas. I have a letter from them telling me they owed me over £500 for such UK 251 compo. In eight months they still haven't paid it. Initially they denied responsibility claiming external circumstances, but I supplied them with the tech repair record of the A380 involved in their delay and their tech responsibilities. I wonder how much unpaid but agreed compo QF and Mr Joyce as the boss, are sitting on?

Why not go to mainstream media with your story?

A disgrace if you (and others) haven't been paid. QFI is happy to charge extremely high fares, so even though it only operates a very small number of flights that are subject to a compensation regime, you ought be promptly paid.

The Friday 14 July 2023 QF2 from LHR departed at 0018 hours local London time on Sunday 16 July, and stopped in SIN for exactly two hours from 2044 mid evening to 2244 late evening, arriving SYD at 0811 on Monday morning 17 July 2023, 1621 minutes late with A388 VH-OQ!.

Saturday 15's QF2 had OQH, arriving in SYD earlier this morning at 0549 hours, 39 behind.

QF27 SYD-SCL was also impacted with a departure delay of 205 minutes and a flow on to the return QF28 departure of an estimated 160 minutes, again shown as holding through to the Sydney arrival at 20:40 AEST Monday.

QF27/28 had/have B789 VH-ZNC, arriving SCL at 1458 hours, 233 minutes late on Sunday 17 July. The scheduled 1340 hours back to SYD on Sunday took off at 1700 hours so arrival tonight (Monday 17) should be at around 2059 hours at its allocated gate, 179 minutes behind schedule.
