Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Indeed: the Wednesday 14 December QF2 (2040 local time at LHR to SIN) is delayed, in theory, to 0945 hours on Thursday 15 (i.e. 2045 hours AEDT tomorrow evening) with eventual SYD arrival suggested as 1900 hours on Friday 16, 650 minutes late.

On FR24, IGargoyle's QF1D is not displaying. This can mean it's blocked by buildings, but often it's a bad sign as it suggests a departure is not imminent. With it allegedly departing in 27 minutes at 1900 hours, that time is fairly close.

UPDATE: QF1D (if we can 'name' it that) has been further put back to 1930 hours ex SYD with an unrealstic one hour stay in SIN from 0025 to 0125 hours and proposed LHR arrival on Thursday 15 still at 0745. The SIN departure and LHR arrival may require adjustment.
We are still sat on the bloody tarmac. Catering staff pushing in comestibles even as I write. Much good natured mirth about half an hour ago when we were told the entertainment system was on the fritz. Boo, sucks, etc. This bloody flight!!!!!

'The system' shows a further amended departure time of 1950 hours for QF1D, but as I write it's 2002.

For the huge fares this airline can charge many travelling, one would expect better. But it's QFi we're talking about.

Wednesday 14 December has QF1D (A388 VH-OQK) finally departing SYD at 2013 hours, 1628 minutes late.

It took off at 2031 hours. QF claims it will arrive SIN at 0122 hours, with a three minute intermediate stop to depart SIN at 0125!

ZND is due to take QF9 from Perth this evening, having been just 8 minutes late arriving with QF10
This flight has been hit with an 13 hr 10 min delay, now departing Perth at 08:30 AWST Thursday morning. The return QF10 is shown departing LHR at 20:25 GMT/UTC/Z Thursday, 8 hrs 35 min late, while the onwards PER-MEL sector has become a red-eye, departing Perth at 22:30 AWST on Friday, and arriving into Melbourne at 05:00 AEDT Saturday, still 8 hrs 35 min late.

There are currently 4 of the 11 Qantas B789's running late ...

ZNA QF8 : 87 minutes late out of Dallas & estimated into Sydney 56 minutes late

This flight is now showing as an estimated 76 late, due to be at SYD at its gate (allowing five minutes from touchdown, an arbitrary figure) at 0846 hours.

QFi's prediction for the first leg was accurate, as it arrived SIN on Thursday 15 December at 0123 hours, but did not depart for LHR until 0308. Arrival at the latter is estimated as 0942 hours, 1647 minutes behind schedule.

Extremely optimistically, the Wednesday 14 2105 hours QF2 from London Heathrow is estimated by QFi to depart at 1110 hours on Thursday 15. An 85 minute turnaround for an Airbus A380 would be something out of the box. QFi suggests it'll be in SIN from 0800 to 0930 on Friday 16 with SYD arrival a suggested 1925 hours. This seems unrealistic.

QF42 from CGK to SYD (A332 VH-EBA) arrived this morning 37 late at 0847 hours.

A333 VH-QPA as QF19 from SYD to MNL arrived last night at 1946 hours (136 minutes late) with QF20, the 1920 hours, taking off at 2148 and arriving SYD this morning at 0824 hours, a similar 129 late.

QF71 from PER up to SIN on Wednesday 14, the 1125 hours, did not become airborne until 1610, arriving SIN at 2104 hours, 259 minutes behind schedule. However QF72 back, the 1915 hours looks to have been delayed overnight with amended departure at 0720 hours this morning. A332 VH-EBC is still in Singapore. It is extremely unusual for QF71/QF72 to be delayed as they are two of QFi's most punctual flights.

Another A332, EBP, is on QF70 that took off from BLR on 14 December at 2255 with estimated SYD arrival this afternoon becoming 1527 hours, 287 minutes late. This was due to QF67 yesterday being similarly late, arriving BLR at 2102, 317 behind.

Wednesday 14 December's QF10 from LHR to PER departed 35 minutes late at 1225 hours but PER arrival today (Thursday 15) has blown out to an estimated 1313 hours, 48 minutes behind.

There are currently 4 of the 11 Qantas B789's running late ...

ZNA QF8 : 87 minutes late out of Dallas & estimated into Sydney 56 minutes late
ZNC QF21 : 55 minutes late out of Sydney & estimated into Dallas 18 minutes late
ZNG QF27 : as noted by Melburnian1 above. The return QF28 is showing a 3 hour 15 minute delay (for departure & arrival times)
ZNJ QF63 : 48 minutes late out of Sydney & estimated into Jo'burg 25 minutes late

of the other's ...

ZNE QF7 : On time to Dallas, after arriving early with QF64 from Jo'burg earlier today.
ZNF QF12 : On time to Sydney, having arrived early into LAX with QF11
ZNI QF94 : On time to Melbourne, after a 24hr+ layover in Los Angeles

ZNB is due to take QF75 to Vancouver this evening, having arrived just 12 minutes late with QF28 from Santiago this morning.
ZND is due to take QF9 from Perth this evening, having been just 8 minutes late arriving with QF10
ZNH is due to take QF10 from London this UK afternoon, having arrived on time with QF9

ZNK is on a 24hr+ layover in Los Angeles
A post worthy of your chosen nom de plume……😁

A388 VH-OQJ is arriving LHR at 0715 hours, an hour late, on QF1 ex SIN and SYD.

QF1D, the Tuesday 1700 hours ex SYD (VH-OQK) that was delayed until last night is a long way behind, tracking through Romania at 1800 hours AEDT on Thursday 15, so looks to be arriving at gate at LHR at around 0934 BST, 1639 minutes late.

QF2D, the Wednesday 14 December 2040 hours LHR-SIN-SYD remains displaying unrealistically as an 1110 hours Thursday 15 departure from LHR. At a guess, 1145 might be the earliest possible assuming the aircraft is not swapped from VH-OQK to VH-OQJ. This could mean Sydney Friday 16 evening arrival at approximately 2100 hours.

A332 VH-EBP is on QF43 (1635 hours SYD-DPS) that was up up and away at 1726 hours with suggested at gate arrival becoming 2031 hours, 31 behind. This was the aircraft that arrived SYD this afternoon at 1522, hours late on QF68, the scheduled 1040 hours arrival from Bengalaru, India.

Thursday 15 December's QF1 (A388 VH-OQH) took off in the early evening of Thursday 15 December at 1812 hours for SIN where estimated arrival is 2254 tonight local time, 44 late.

Tomorrow (Friday's) QF1 is estimated to depart SYD 235 minutes late at 2100 hours mid evening. It doesn't look to be due to QF2D (which has yet to depart LHR) forming it, as these two flights are showing different gate numbers.

A388 VH-OQK just arrived as QF1D from SYD and SIN to a very cold LHR at 0938 hours on Thursday 15 December, 1648 minutes late.

VH-OQJ should be on QF2D, the Wednesday 14 departure (2040 hours) supposedly delayed to 1110 hours today, but it's 1140 hours in London and I can't see QF2D displaying on FR24. Sometimes not a good sign. It still isn't in the 'danger zone' to arrive outside the Sydney curfew tomorrow night, but wouldn't want to be delayed much more than an hour longer given so many QFi flights overstay the one and a half hours allowed in Singapore.

Good morning, punters. QF1D has indeed landed. Loads o’snow and yep it’s brisk outside. Sunny and cold. Very nice. A great flight on both legs and premium economy was fine. No spicy tomato juice to make a Bloody Mary …. Wassup wid dat??? Now the fun begins claiming credits/refunds for lost accommodation and mucked about forward flights. It’ll all work out I’m sur. Alan Joyce, you have terrific staff. Stars. Look after them because you’re a dick. They make you slightly less nauseating than you actually are. The AFR did a number on you recently (good job too) and after the year I’ve had with Qantas I’d like to know what you’ll do to keep my business?

QF2D pushed back in LHR at 1229 local time on Thursday 15 December, 79 minutes later than QFi suggested. It's 947 minutes late.

On Friday 16 December 2022, QF2 should arrive SIN at about 0931 hours as last night Australian time it took off from LHR at 1252 hours.

If it manages to depart SIN at 1100, it should be in SYD just before 2200 hours. So often however, QFi overstays in SIN.

On Thursday 15, QF69 (A332 VH-EBN, 0920 hours morning MEL-DEL) was airborne at 1057, arriving at 1754, 84 minutes behind schedule. The return QF70 then took off at 2017 hours so this afternoon arrival is forecast for 1351 hours, 106 minutes tardy.

The SIN down to SYD QF82 has A333 VH-QPC. It should be at its arrival gate at 0801 hours, 51 behind as yesterday QF71 from PER to SIN arrived at 2004 hours, 199 minutes late. QF82 was creditably airborne by 2150 but it can't make up all the time.

While A333 VH-QPJ was only 22 late as QF87 from SYD to ICN in arriving yesterday, the redeye QF88 (the 1950 hours) was not pointing skywards until 2158 mid to late evening, so Friday 16 SYD arrival looks to be about 1028 hours, 133 minutes behind schedule.

QF62 from HND down to BNE is another late runner with Friday 16 arrival for class leader A333 VH-QPA expected at around the 0840 hours mark which would be 65 minutes behind the timetable.

QF2 ex LHR on Thursday 15 December departed at 2155 hours, 75 minutes tardy and took off at 2211 with A388 VH-OQK, so SIN arrival on Friday 16 should be at 1857 hours, 87 minutes late.

A332 VH-EBP on 16 December arrived SYD as QF44 eight minutes late at 0638 but took off operating QF67 to BLR at 1117 hours, so predicted arrival is 1712, 87 late.

The overnight delayed QF2 (originally timetabled to depart LHR at 2040 hours mid evening on Wednesday 14 December) is still in SIN, having arrived at 0934 hours on Friday 16, 964 minutes late.

QFi claims it's departing a minute after I write, at 1215 SIN time for a 2245 hours arrival in Sydney. Cutting it fine for the 2300 hours curfew.

A333 VH-QPJ is on the 1230 hours SYD-SIN QF81 in the sky at 1322. Forecast arrival becomes 35 late at 1825 hours.

QF19 (1225 hours lunchtime SYD-MNL) is not normally an A332 but today VH-EBP did the honours, airborne at 1350 hours for a suggested gate arrival tonight at about 1840, 70 minutes tardy. QF20 will inevitably be delayed.
