Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Sunday : While all B789 flights out of Nth America have departed within 5 minutes of ETD (or early), the same still can't be said for today's flights so far in the opposite direction.
QF96 MEL-LAX (B789 VH-ZNK) departed Melbourne at 16:10 AEDT this afternoon, 90 minutes late, with a revised ETA in Los Angeles of 11:44 PDT, 44 minutes late.
QF7 SYD-DFW (B789 VH-ZNB) departed Sydney at 18:05 AEDT this evening, 85 minutes late. It seems to have a more favourable flight path in that the Dallas ETA is 16:15 CDT, only 15 minutes late.

Meanwhile A388 VH-OQJ operating QF11 SYD-LAX in place of a B789 for the first time in four days, was 49 minutes late pushing back in Sydney at 11:04 AEDT this morning. It is apparently not expected to make up time, with ETA in Los Angeles 50 minutes late at 06:50 PDT.

Monday's QF8 DFW-SYD (B789 VH-ZNF) departure from Dallas has been delayed 23½ hours for a revised departure of 21:20 CDT Tuesday and an arrival in Sydney of 06:05 AEDT Thursday (same delay).

Tuesday : Continuing, while B789 VH-ZNE arrived early into Perth with QF10 LHR-PER, the onward sector to Melbourne is currently delayed 80 minutes to 14:30 AWST, with a revised arrival in Melbourne of 20:45 AEDT this evening, 65 minutes late.

After landing on a very delayed flight from Newman to Perth walking down the stairs to see a massive line for QF9 Perth to London with the PA saying that the flight is delayed until 8pm tomorrow. Thats a 23hr delay

Some unhappy travellers I'm guessing!! (Qantas offering to pay for a taxi home if they live in Perth or a $200 hotel voucher if not from Perth).

Tuesday : QF10 eventually departed 119 minutes late at 15:09 AWST, and arrived in Melbourne 98 minutes late at 21:18 AEDT. This flowed on to QF93 MEL-LAX, with VH-ZNE departing Melbourne at 23:27 AEDT 87 minutes late. With favourable winds, its ETA into Los Angeles is 19:07 PDT on Tuesday just 37 minutes late.

A short while ago, FlightRadar24 showed the delayed QF9 PER-LHR aircraft B789 VH-ZNC being taken from the gate to the adjacent layover bay. Qantas Flight Status is now showing a 20:20 AWST departure tomorrow 25 hrs 30 minutes late, with London arrival expected to be 06:40 GMT, 25 hours 35 minutes late.

The return QF10 LHR-PER is shown as departing London at 8:20 GMT Thursday, 20 hrs 35 minutes late, and arriving in Perth at 08:15 AWST on Friday morning with the same delay. The onward QF10 PER-MEL sector has a similar delay with ETA in Melbourne of 16:15 AEDT on Friday. At present there is no delay shown for the usual flow-on Thursday QF93 departure.

Monday's QF8 DFW-SYD (B789 VH-ZNF) departure from Dallas has been delayed 23½ hours for a revised departure of 21:20 CDT Tuesday and an arrival in Sydney of 06:05 AEDT Thursday (same delay).
This delayed flight departed Dallas at 21:35 CDT Tuesday 15 minutes shy of a day late, but operated by B789 VH-ZND as QF8D, arrival in Sydney now estimated to be 06:00 AEDT Thursday, 23 hours 25 minutes late.

The normal Tuesday QF8 was then operated by VH-ZNF and departed 1 hour 7 minutes after VH-ZND at 22:42 CDT, 52 minutes late, and is due in Sydney at 07:20 AEDT Thursday, 45 minutes late.

The flow on has occurred, with Thursday's QF93 MEL-LAX Melbourne departure now 10:40 AEDT Friday morning, the delay dropping by 8 hours to 12½ hours. The revised ETA into Los Angeles is 07:00 PDT Friday, with the same delay.

This flight departed slightly later at 11:00 AEDT, being operated as QF95 by B789 VH-ZNJ. This has left no B789 in Melbourne, resulting in today's QF9 MEL-PER-LHR being delayed 1½ hrs, presumably pending the arrival in Melbourne of the delayed QF10 (B789 VH-ZNC).

Friday : QF96 LAX-MEL (B789 VH-ZNB) pushed back from the gate at Los Angeles at 23:52 PDT Thursday, 57 minutes late, however Qantas Flight Status shows the flight is expected to make up about half of that for a Sydney arrival of 08:55 AEDT Saturday. That may be optimistic as take off wasn't until 00:16 PDT Friday.

QF9 MEL-PER-LHR : today's delayed departure from Melbourne has slipped to 18:20 AEDT, now 2 hrs 5 min late. The flight is expected to trim 40 minutes off that delay with a 20:15 AWST departure from Perth, with an estimated arrival in London of 06:30 GMT Saturday. As yet no sign on the flight tracker sites. Edit: the aircraft (B789 VH-ZNC) pushed back at 18:46 AEDT, so 2hrs 31 minutes late.

Thursday's QF12 LAX-SYD was originally a B789 flight, however is showing as an A388 (VH-OQH) with a 10 hr 35 min delay for a 09:30 PDT departure today, resulting in a Sydney ETA of 18:30 AEDT Saturday.

The best laid plans, etc ... the departure of the PER-LHR sector of QF9 has been delayed until 21:10 AWST this evening, with a revised London arrival of 07:25 GMT Saturday

Friday : meanwhile todays's QF10 LHR-PER-MEL (B789 VH-ZNI) has been delayed 9 hrs 20 min to 21:15 GMT Friday. This delay currently follows through with the ETA in Perth 21:00 AWST Saturday & the ETA in Melbourne 05:00 AEDT Sunday.

At present, no flow-on is shown for the normal continuation of QF93 MEL-LAX.

Luckily the 93 reverts to a morning departure from Sunday
However, only 5 days a week for both QF93/QF94 : 1,2,4,5,7; also the weekly QF95/QF96 has been canned.

SYD-LAX services are also tweeked, with the Friday QF11 being replaced by an evening departing QF17. QF17/QF18 has been reinstated twice weekly 1,5.
While QF11/QF12 was supposed to be 7 days A388, it is still just 3 days A388 & four B789, which may cause problems for the B789 schedules as SYD-SCL (Santiago) commences Monday, and VH-ZNJ is due for its 3 yr Heavy Maintenance (~2 weeks) in Singapore during November, not to mention the continuing Covid caused delays.

Speaking of which, the one off early QF75 SYD-YVR (B789 VH-ZNK) departed Sydney at 11:57 AEDT this morning, 117 minutes late.

Oops, the above should read 'commences Sunday', as coincidentally B789 VH-ZNJ (100 livery) took the inaugural B789 service from SYD to SCL this morning, pushing back just 16 minutes late, although Qantas Flight Status is showing it loosing time for a 11:29 CLST Santiago arrival, 34 minutes late.

Looks like QF55 BNE-LAX on 30/10 landed at NOU at 2AM and left NOU at 8AM this morning back to BNE. It would have been hard to find last minute accommodation in New Caledonia, so probably a 4-5 hour wait at the gate lounge.

QF1 departed SIN almost 3 hours late. While departing SYD on time yesterday, it landed almost 1 hour late in SIN.

Monday : The inaugural B789 QF27 SYD-SCL (VH-ZNJ) made up time on the eastwards journey arriving on time, However the return QF28 was 31 minutes late pushing back at Santiago on Sunday, and is now expected into Sydney at 18:50 AEDT this evening, 60 minutes late.

This morning's QF93 MEL-LAX is showing a 90 minute delay, with departure from Melbourne now at 12:30 AEDT this afternoon. It is expected to make up time with a revised Los Angeles arrival of 08:30 PDT Monday, 70 minutes late.
