Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF11 is delayed until 1730, a delay if 7hrs 55.

This is despite the A388 early morning arrivals on Tuesday 20 August 2019 (QF2, QF8 and QF12) all being on time or just a couple of minutes late.

QF1464, the 0715 hours CBR - SYD did not become airborne until 0813 hours so Q400 VH-QOD is arriving at 0851, 41 minutes behind schedule.

B717 VH-NXR on QF1582, the 0630 hours from HBA up to SYD was airborne at 0737 so anticipated gate arrival is 61 minutes late at 0921.

In further on Tuesday 20 August, QF81 is again delayed, departing SYD 57 late at 1107 with SIN arrival suggested as 1748 hours, 58 late.

A more notorious late runner, QF63 (1055 hours SYD across to JNB) should depart at 1210, about as I write. Arrival is predicted 80 late at 1820, so the 1910 hours QF64 back overnight to SYD will be tardy.

QF12 is delayed into LAX by 75 mins after a 103 minute taxi at JFK.

As aviator and AFFer jb747 stated, this occurs quite a bit. IIRC he or someone else may have implied that summer is worse than the other three seasons, which sounds counter intuitive because outsiders may surmise that winter is when one expects the longest delays.

Also on Tuesday 20 August, QF73, the 1740 hours SYD - SFO is delayed until 1830 in predicted pushback, 50 late. Yesterday it was also tardy.

Earlier, QF51, the 1200 'high noon' BNE - SIN got the flick. This is unusual as 'the 51' is often early into the Lion City.

QF43 (1630 hours afternoon SYD - DPS) departed 55 minutes late with arrival estimated as 2155 tonight, 50 late.

QF51 Tuesdays BNE-SIN service cancelled.
I was due to be on it, missed a call from an unknown number 10pm Monday.
Woke up early this morning to see text messages re-routing me BNE-DXB-SGN for some ungodly reason.
Managed to rearrange to BNE-HKG-SGN and currently in HKG.

Looks to be the second time in a week BNE-SIN has been cancelled.

Lemon_Party, thanks. I mentioned this in the previous post to yours.

To add insult to injury, yesterday's QF51 was four hours late.

This used to be called 'having a bad trot' but with QFi, it's systematic. Lots of delays or cancellations in the last couple of months affecting many and various.

Will you be placed on some CX flight to SGN?

Last night’s QF52 was initially delayed and then cancelled. This caused the cancellation of today’s QF51 to avoid positioning an empty aircraft back.

I read through 2 pages to make sure I wasn't duplicating info, and it was right there above me! Must be tired...

Yeah - I searched through options this morning and asked our corporate TA to put me on that routing as it was the best I could see that got me there same day.

QF97 was packed to the gills, I assume plenty of people would have transferred across.
I suspect they knew about it - I only booked on Friday and sale fares were still available, not long after I booked the flight was sold out which seemed odd.

Lemon, not to worry. I more often use a PC and find looking at previous posts very easy and not tiring on the eyes. I can't say the same for working from a smartphone, while a tablet is between the two. And who wouldn't be tired after probably departing your home 14 plus hours ago?

QF1545, the Wednesday 21 August 2019 0845 hours BNE down to CBR took off at 0939 with B717 VH-YQY. Arrival should be at 1114 hours, 39 minutes late.

B738 VH-XZF is on QF970, the morning 0930 hours BNE - TSV that took off at 1027. Arrival should be at 1214, 44 minutes late.

The long QF7 (SYD to DFW) used to be almost always punctual, but lately it's had problem after problem. On Wednesday 21 August, it pushed back at 1326 with arrival suggested - same day - at 1355, 55 late. Not a multi-hour delay but still could result in missed connections and therefore further delays.

QF621 BNE-MEL (B738 VH-VZA) arrived to gate at 16 56, 81 min tardy. This delay impacted QF626 MEL-BNE which is now revised to arrive at 19 35, 75 behind.

B738 VH-VZK initially as QF462 PER-SYD arrived at 17 58, 88 min late. This then formed as QF453 SYD-MEL which was airborne at 19 01, this has a predicted arrival at 20 18, 103 min behind schedule.

B738 VH-VYG as QF537 BNE-SYD arrived to gate at 18 00, 80 min late. This impacted QF451 SYD-MEL which has a suggested arrival at 20 15, 85 min tardy.

QF457 SYD-MEL 17 45, QF447 SYD-MEL 18 15, QF463 SYD-MEL 18 30, QF465 19 00, QF768 PER-MEL 16 00, QF497 SYD-MEL 22 05 hours service were cancelled.

The Wednesday 21 August 2019 QF44 (2225 hours redeye DPS - SYD) was not airborne until 0127 hours on Thursday 22 so arrival for A332 VH-EBS (after a relatively brief hold above Goulburn) is at 0911 hours, 166 minutes late.

B738 VH-VXJ on QF508, the 0800 hours SYD - BNE has its transponder on as at 0907 hours but teh QF website suggests it will not depart until 1020 hours.

QF410, the 0715 hours MEL - SYD took off at 0804 with VH-VXU. Arrival should be at 0932 hours, 52 late.

QF2202 from ABX up to SYD, the 0705 hours airborne at 0807 has Q400 VH-QOB and should arrive at roughly 0925, 70 late.

QF1582, the 0630 hours HBA - SYD was up up and away at 0751 so B717 VH-NXJ is arriving at gate at an expected 81 minutes tardy - 0941 hours.

SYD looks to be down to single runway operations again, so that can't be assisting timekeeping. ATC may be imposing delays - "controlled departures" if I recall the term - on departures from elsewhere to SYD. If so, expect some delays to compound during the day, but aircraft that do not go near SYD in their rosters today may not be affected unless at some stage they have to wait for connecting passengers (or crew.)

VH-OEI operating QF28 from SCL diverted to CHC but I don't have other details as I've only found out from the flight status SMS subscription - I was tracking this aircraft as it was supposed to operate my flight from SYD tonight...

AIRwin, huge thanks. QF28 arrived CHC at 1730 local time, 90 minutes ago. QF is stating it won't be departing until 0800 on Friday 23, almost certainly due to the flight crew being out of hours - 20 is the maximum to which they can agree to extend from the usual 18 hour duty limit) so arrival tomorrow in SYD should be 0905 hours instead of 1750 late this afternoon, so 915 minutes late.

QF25 from SYD to HND, the 2050 hours, remains showing as punctual.

QF73 (1740 hours late afternoon SYD - SFO) did not operate on Wednesday 21 or today. These look to be scheduled, not ad hoc, non-running days. That assists in additional B744s from the depleted fleet being available in SYD.

Earlier, QF63, another B7434, departed SYD at 1129 hours, 34 late with JNB arrival forecast for 1755, 55 late. As a result the overnight redeye QF64 is suggested as pushing back in JNB tonight (local time) at 1950, 40 minutes behind schedule.

There will be a replacement aircraft (VH-OEJ) as confirmed by the lounge, although I wouldn't have minded staying overnight in SYD at QF's expense (and possibly upgraded the next day?)

QF23, the Thursday 22 August 2019 scheduled 0950 hours SYD - BKK departed at 113 but on a gate-to-gate basis should pick up time, with arrival estimated as 55 late at 1735 late this afternoon local time. This will delay redeye QF24.

QF7 as noted recently has become bad punctuality wise. Today is not an exception with pushback 112 late at 1427 this afternoon. Same day arrival is predicted at 1441 hours, 101 late.

The 1630 hours MEL - SYD (QF450, B738 VH-VXR) took off at 1715 so arrival should be 1825, half an hour behind.
