Qantas Delays/Cancellations

HKG airport is still a mess today with very heavy rain from typhoon Pakhar (only 3 days after Hato). QF30 tonight is delayed until 9PM possibly due to late arrival of inbound QF127.

Yes it does look like QF127 is forming QF30 hence the delay. QF117 (SYD) is running an hour late but QF29 (MEL) and QF97 (BNE) are on time on their journeys up to HKG

And another hour on, QF Flight Status is still showing delayed departure at 12.20pm. That would have been two hours late.
It is now coming up to three and a half hours but no update on Flight Status listing.
Melbourne Airport Departures information board is still showing delayed departure time of 12.45pm - at 13.40pm.

Edit 1: QF states "departed at 13.36pm".
Edit 2: Melbourne Airport Departures now shows departed at 12.45pm.
Lies, damned lies and ....? :)

QF1/2 is soon hubbing via SIN rather than DXB. The LHR layover is about 14.5 hours
The QF9/10 hubbing via PER will have a layover in LHR of 8.3 hours

This is good news from a delays and cancellations point of view as the long layover at LHR helps to minimise the rolling delays caused by an delayed aircraft.

However the high utilisation of the QF9/10 and onward QF 95/95 is going to be prone to rolling delays that Melburnian1 is going to still much to talk about!:)

Larger maintenance items, catch up if schedule wacked out.
Smart to do when they have such a small fleet

and to complete the table:
QF96 LAX-MEL 23:55 8:25

So there's a bit of space in MEL when the plane heads west and a few hours in LHR.

Showering, Eating, Drinking and now sitting in QF FL Tom Bradley LAX waiting to board QF16 for BNE. Originally scheduled to depart at 23:20 now 01:10, a delay of 1hr 50m. Due to late inbound from JFK.

QF29 diverted to CAN last night before continuing on to HKG. This morning QF108 stopped into CNS and then continued to SYD.

QF11 is 2 hours late today, QF15 is 2.5 hrs late. The onward QF11 will also be delayed.

Meanwhile yesterday's QF12 is 2 hrs behind and QF30 is 4.5 hrs late.

QF15 only took off at 4pm. As a result QF11/12 LAX-JFK-LAX on Sunday has a 5 hour delay. The QF12 isn't due into LAX until 1.30am (Mon) and therefore QF16 will be not departing until around 3.30am on Monday morning.

The Biggles family were on QF15/QF11. Apparently the delays were due to a malfunctioning emergency exit before departure from BNE. At least we were stuck in the lounge. Tried for an upgrade from PE on the LAX-JFK leg but no luck-only had the request in for 9 months lol
