Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF822, the 1935 hours Friday 9 August MEL - CBR took off at 2131. B738 VH-VZD is arriving at its gate at 2219, 99 late.

The 1930 hours MEL - SYD, QF464, was airborne at 2053 so A332 VH-EBN should be at its gate at about 2230, 95 late.

QF774, the 1855 hours ADL across to SYD was in the sky at 2001. A 2241 hours arrival, 86 late for VH-VXM beckons.

The 1915 hours MEL - SYD did not take off until 2102 hours with this QF484 (VH-VXQ) arriving at a suggested 2246, 126 minutes late.

QF465, the 1900 hours SYD - MEL took off at 2200 with VH-VYE so arrival is suggested as 2318, 163 minutes tardy.

QF785 (VH-XZO) is cutting it fine with the ADL curfew as this 2020 hours timetabled ex SYD took off at 2135 for predicted 2259 arrival, 59 late.

QF868 (2020 hours SYD up to OOL) took off at 2222 with VH-VZR so predicted arrival is 100 minutes tardy at 2325 hours.

QF117, the 2120 hours SYD - HKG took off at 2232 with A333 VH-QPD. Saturday 10 arrival should be 0544, 44 late.

The 1950 hours SYD north to CNS, QF950, was in the sky at 2219 with VH-VZM. Arrival looks to be 0102 hours on Saturday 10 in the FNQ "capital", 122 late.

The 2005 hours evening BNE down to SYD QF555 airborne at 2157 must have an exemption from the curfew as it looks to be arriving at 2312, 92 late with B7389 VH-XZM.

Parents were meant to be on first QF flight of day on CBR-SYD to connect to CX on their way to a YVR-TYO cruise.
Wind delayed the CBR flight by 2 hours, which would cause them to miss CX. Now they are driving to SYD.

A333 VH-QPH on QF143, the 0930 hours SYD across to AKL was still in the early stages of taxiing in SYD as at 1031, so will be at least 50 minutes late.

From a quick look SYD may again be on single runway (east-west) ops. Disastrous for timekeeping on a busy Saturday morning, but maybe not so bad on Saturday afternoon, later, when airline traffic is less. Winds at 1030 hours were gusting to 54kmh.

By 1032 hours, QF121 (B738 VH-VZJ) had not departed, despite being the 0940 hours scheduled SYD across to ZQN.

Earlier down in MEL, QF79 departed only 15 late at 0925 but NRT arrival is forecast as 1914, 39 late.

B738 VH-VXL operated QF6126 from BNE to SYD that presumably is an empty working ('ferry flight.') It landed at 1101 hours.

VH-VZP on QF516 (1000 hours SYD - BNE) was not far from take off as at 1104, so is at least 45 minutes late.

QF127 (1020 hours SYD - HKG) has been delayed until an estimated 1100 hours.

QF129 is worse. This 0930 hours SYD - PVG has been cancelled, so tonight's redeye QF130 will suffer the same fate.

B738 VH-VXN on QF423, the 1000 hours SYD - MEL took off on Saturday 10 August at 1113 so delayed arrival is 1236 hours, 61 late.

The 1010 hours SYD up to SIN, QF81, departed at 1034 with arrival suggested as 1720, half an hour tardy.

QF2041 from DBO across to SYD, Q400 VH-LQG, is arriving at 1138, 38 late.

Longhaul QF63, the B744-operated 1055 hours SYD - JNB is frequently delayed. Today is same-same, with departure expected at 1200 and consequent arrival at 1810, 70 behind, meaning tonight's QF64 will also be delayed.

129 is cancelled due to yesterday’s diversion to HKG. As a result yesterday’s 130 was cancelled. I’d expect tonight’s will run as per schedule.

QF19 on Saturday 10 August was not so long ago showing as punctual but has been altered to depart an expected 70 late at 1320 with arrival 1945 tonight, 75 behind, meaning again the 2000 hours QF20 will be tardy.

Update: QF130 is cancelled again tonight. The aircraft is positioning back to SYD from HKG where it diverted yesterday. Possibly a crew hours issue.

Not as if QF cannot afford this, but nonetheless these instances chip away at profits, as passengers in PVG may need to be provided hotel accommodation. Advice from anyone affected as to such arrangements is always welcome in this forum.

QF437, the Saturday 10 August 1330 hours SYD down to MEL (B738 VH-VYA) was in the sky at 1438 so predicted arrival is 1552, 47 minutes late.

Earlier, QF524, the 1200 'high noon' SYD - BNE was in the sky at 1424. Arrival at 1535, 125 minute stardy, is on the cards for B738 VH-VZR.

QF435, the 1300 hours southbound took off at 1414 with arrival for VH-XZN suggested as 55 late at 1530 hours.

In the opposite direction, QF434, the 1300 hours, took off at 1356 with VH-VXZ predicted to arrive at 1502 hours, 37 late.

Parents were meant to be on first QF flight of day on CBR-SYD to connect to CX on their way to a YVR-TYO cruise.
Wind delayed the CBR flight by 2 hours, which would cause them to miss CX. Now they are driving to SYD.
When they checked their booking at 5am this morning, it had posted the CBR-SYD delay, but still listed the CX flights. The buses were booked out, so they hopped in the car.
When they got to SYD T1, CX thought they had cancelled. The CX agent disappeared for a bit and found out that QF had changed the booking and hadn't told them as they had booked via a travel agent and QF told that agent (who isn't going to pass it on to a client at 6am on a Saturday morning).
QF had put them on QF1480 to SYD, so were confused when they appeared at SYD check in by 9am.
They are now on QF73/AC571 (instead of CX162/CX888) and had a 'lovely' 5 hours in the QF SYD T1 J lounge.

QF19 on Saturday 10 August was not so long ago showing as punctual but has been altered to depart an expected 70 late at 1320 with arrival 1945 tonight, 75 behind, meaning again the 2000 hours QF20 will be tardy.

QF19 did not depart until 1511 this afternoon with MNL arrival said to be 2125, 175 minutes tardy. This will push QF20 back to about a 2240 hours departure with SYD arrival some time after 0800. No obvious reason as A332 VH-EBP arrived n SYD at 0945 hours, 20 late, on QF414 ex MEL.

The far longer distance QF63 was also later than QF expected, pushing back at 1443 with JNB arrival suggested as 2040, 220 minutes late. This means the evening redeye QF64 will be unlikely to depart much before 2220 hours - QF officially says '2235', 215 late with Sunday 11 arrival in SYD predicted at 1825, 210 late.

Also today, QF621 BNE-MEL (B738 VH-VXJ) had a revised arrival at 17 26, 111 min late.
QF703 CNS-MEL (A332 VH-EBG) arrived at 18 18, 78 min tardy.
QF447 SYD-MEL (B738 VH-VZE) is expected at 18 54, 79 min late.
QF627 BNE-MEL (B738 VH-VXP) has a worse delay, with a revised arrival at 20 29, 114 min behind schedule.
QF582 PER-SYD (A332 VH-EBF) has a suggested arrival at 21 32, 57 min tardy.

QF62 on Saturday 10 August is predicted to depart NRT for BNE half an hour behind at 2025 due to the late running arrival QF79 ex MEL.

QF2230 (Q300 VH-TQE) is the 1645 hours late afternoon WGA - SYD not airborne until 1925, so arrival is at 2020 hours, 140 minutes tardy.

Update: QF130 is cancelled again tonight. The aircraft is positioning back to SYD from HKG where it diverted yesterday. Possibly a crew hours issue.

A333 VH-QPI as QF6024 was airborne from HKG at 0953 hours on Saturday 10 August and is shortly arriving in SYD at approximately 2040 hours.

QF12 JFK-LAX was about to begin boarding, but apparently the chillers malfunctioned so the flight has to be re-catered. Initially said 30 minutes delay, but now even 1 hour seems optimistic. I wonder how easy it is to get an entire flight re-catered at short notice.

Great information thank you. I'd have to assert 'impossible' given the complexity of menus and how they vary by airline.

Fortunately it's only a leg of a few hours.

This Saturday 10 August QF12 departed JFK at 1939, with arrival in LAX estimated 77 late at 2217. QF12 onwards to SYD is only showing as half an hour delay: this may be optimistic.

It's not easy at all. This will have onward effects in LA, so it would really be best to forget about the food, and just go. Nobody will starve on a flight across the US.
