Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Delayed to 17.50 now. How likely are they to hold QF1 for connecting pax from Melbourne
On 28th May, QF37 was delayed until 17.25. On this occasion, QF1 from SIN was delayed 45 minutes so presumably held to wait for QF37, as the inbound QF1 from SYD was 2 mins early.

yld200, ignore my now deleted original post on this.

I'd say 'very likely' as given QF37 is timetabled to arrive in SIN at 2225 hours and QF1 to depart at 2355, it must be a connection used daily by many.

I couldn't imagine you'd be the sole 'connector.'

I reckon airlines do a quick estimate as to how much each option costs, but there's also other considerations such as how congested is the arrival airport (LHR) at what would be the later (revised) arrival time. In its case - "very." Plus LHR management takes a dim view of airlines that continually arrive late.

SO got on the phone to QF - operator told her unlikely they'll hold QF1 as a result she's switched over to tomorrows flights instead. Bit of a stuff around but she had time up her sleeve, the delay into London cost a $200 fee to change her connecting flight to Germany.

Thanks for the prompt responses.

Yesterday's (9/6) QF117/118 was delayed by three hours, lapsing the delay onto today's 117 to HKG (supposed to depart 15mins ago, Just pushed back as I wrote this) 50mins for today's 117

How would the operator know? Doesn't sound like a definitive response.

While it's academic for you now, QF37 departed MEL on Sunday 10 June at 1754 with SIN arrival expected at 2345. QF1 will be a little early into SIN at this stage.

A minute out from Flyerqf's prediction, QF73 departed at 1656, 251 minutes tardy. Same day SFO arrival is estimated as 1320 hours, 255 late.

Agree with your comments re the operator. My wife didn’t agree with me and went ahead and re-scheduled anyway.

Just checked now and QF1 our of SIN is showing as delayed by 35 minutes:rolleyes:

Everyone’s circumstances are different.

If it were me, I would have stayed on original itinerary. Only 1 or 2 outcomes.

Either connection in SIN goes ahead in which case all good. Or connection in SIN does not go ahead in which case I’ll have a day to explore SIN, break the journey especially if travelling in Y and some shopping - with an airline rebates hotel stay!. Or book your own hotel and take the rebate in cash later.

It departed SIN exactly an hour late at 0055 hours on Monday 11 June, so it was held. LHR arrival should be 29 minutes late at 0724 hours.

On Monday 11 June 2018, QF19, the 1210 hours SYD - MNL is predicted to depart an hour late.

UPDATE: QF19 departed 55 late; predicted MNL arrival is half an hour behind at 1900. This will slightly delay the returning QF20.

The QF19 aircraft, A332 VH-EBR, arrived in SYD at 1059 hours on QF574 ex PER, 321 minutes early. It looks like it was originally rostered on QF41, the 1345 hours SYD - CGK, giving it more time in Sydney to switch between the domestic and international terminals, but for some reason it is running the Manila. Impossible for it to depart Sydney on time with such lack of time to unload passengers, luggage and any freight from QF574 and then proceed across to an international gate, and load the same items.

And repeat for QF73 today.

On Monday 11 June 2018, QF64 is slightly delayed with arrival suggested at 1521 this arvo in SYD, 26 minutes tardy.

If it is forming QF73, the latter will be unlikely to depart at 1645 as the QF website suggests. 1700 would be pretty much the earliest.

With QF37 and QF38 late yesterday and overnight respectively, Monday 11 June's QF38 arriving at 1041 hours (86 late) in MEL, QF159, the 1045 hours mid morning flight from MEL across to AKL was also delayed.

A332 VH-EBP took off at 1219. Arrival is expected at 1736, 76 late. QF156, the 1800-hours AKL back to MEL will also be tardy.
