Makes me think that @cove was onto something in the What's your golden travel rule? thread...This suitcase was like brand new. Didn't even have any scuffs on it!

Hmm..... bag repair/replacement costs? Or costs related to buying clothing etc to tide you over until your bag arrives at its destination?Exciting news for mishandled bag owners

Yeah I saw that when I looked to deal with a bag problemI've had my bag mangled by Qantas domestic baggage handling. It was about 8 years old, but still in near-pristine condition. The closest replacement (90L, with two large wheels for rough ground) is around $450 (on sale). They are only offering me $80 - which I presume is based on extensive depreciation on the purchase price. Anyone had any luck in arguing for something closer to a proper restoration in these circumstances?

Did you purchase your flight with a credit card that offers auto travel insurance, and if so, does that cover damaged baggage? You may be able to make a claim on that and argue with QF to reimburse the excess (given what's written on the Qantas website re: damaged baggage).I've had my bag mangled by Qantas domestic baggage handling.
