QANTAS Cyber Incident

I was going to “laugh” at that comment but I know how frustrated you are with QBR! Luckily, I dodged that kerfuffle with my account.
Yes - its getting rather ridiculous - and how clueless the QBR call centre seem to be in how to solve it I'm not seeing an end to the problem anytime soon...

I agree with some here that a class action individually amounts to 2 fifths of .... (you know)
I was part of the class action against ANZ which resulted in what amounted to a couple of six packs for me and made a significant payday for lawyers.

Even the prospect of frequent flyer points awarded for your damage is flawed, 6 million people times whatever. Just possibly results in bugger all as well.

My preferred result is more meaningful and brutal.

May those responsible for designing, approving, or maintaining the current QF IT security system be removed from the business minus any benefits they were otherwise entitled to.

Qantas would then be giving me true customer satisfaction.

What, no grief for any present or past directors? Hudson was a willing disciple of Jones and customer security wasn't a recent thought.

Well maybe she has to be the first one. Then the rest of the main players. Hudson's current prime issue behind the breach is a lack of discipline, which is showing itself right across the business, from late and cancelled flights, disgruntled pilots, grubby aircraft seats, etc, etc.

I have no interest in joining the ca. Money or points isn't going to hide my details if they do get released.

Money or points is not going to give me a new identity.

The whole Qantas should be taught a lesson blah blah blah won't stop this, or any other hack, happening again. Not a QF cheerleader, just not a fan of the whole 'I have to be paid for the trauma this hack has caused me' conversation.
But some cash can pay for the $14.95 per month credit/identity monitoring to give some peace of mind. Surely Qantas owe us that? Especially those like me who have had everything released.

Qantas is just waiting for this whole thing to go away.
Interestingly to me, in my twitter feed Qantas hasn’t posted since 9/7, I am an IT Dinosaur so maybe I’m not doing it right, but it does seem unusual 🤨

Especially those whose DOB was leaked. If not interested, there is no obligation to register...

I just got my first DOB-related email following the breach. From a restaurant in Baulkham Hills that I've never heard of (I'm in CBR) inviting me to celebrate my (imminent) birthday with them. They use a reasonably well-known reservations platform that I have certainly never given my DOB to.

like the hackers have sold the data to a restaurant

A hackers knowledge of my DOB is my biggest concern!

Yeah, two points here:

1. I never claimed such a thing happened. I merely noted that, very shortly after the breach, my birthday was referenced in a promotional email from a restaurant I don't know, and using a site I have not given my DOB to. Something that hasn't happened before. Coincidence? Very possibly - I didn't imply a direct connection.
2. The specific restaurant is irrelevant anyway. As stated, they use a reservations platform that lists dozens of global brands as clients. That could be a more plausible market for the hackers.

Lots of restaurants and associated platforms ask for DOB (not always year, just DD/MM) so they can offer birthday vouchers / discounts.

Franchised venues then share that info across their affiliates.

An observation from an intern contributor. The pack is circling, exactly what the QA team at PR is waiting for lol. We will start attacking various viewpoints and the circus will move on.
