Just got this (pair of) offer(s)
I can offer some pricing insights

-discount Y DRW-SYD-LAX-BNE-DRW booking
- quite last minute- that combo was $2131.80, on the same dates SYD-LAX-SYD (couldn’t get QF to price the same SYD return flight in conjunction with DRW legs for some reason) was $1260 give or take. Couldn’t get the DRW legs for less than $800 or 100k points (!!), it is high season I suppose but let’s say that the Y cost of the DRW-east coast rtn was around $1k, this would make $1700ish return in J which is actually not bad

-leads to the points valuation around 1c/point

-ergo, in this case a cash upgrade probably makes sense- unless anyone has any different thoughts?

I'd go the cash upgrade personally, would be getting better value than that for an upgrade on the SYD<>LAX legs (if they happened). Also probably getting better than 1c value off 32k for a future domestic booking even in whY.

I’ve just accepted a confirmed upgrade offer. SIN-BNE in a couple of weeks, I was looking at putting in a classic upgrade request but they gave me an offer of $897. I decided 65,400 Qantas points was worth more than $897, so accepted the confirmed offer and it was updated to business in around 5 minutes.

Wow - I'm quite surprised by the value for a guaranteed upgrade in this example. I'd have expected a higher cost from Saver to Business. I know you don't get the extra SCs, but it's still quite good for a premium route in a business suite.

I don't know how many are willing to take the time to do this, but I think what could be great for this thread would be if we had the following elements to help with determining value, and whether there is any consistency to the offers that are coming through:

• O&D airports (e.g. SIN-BNE)
• Flight Date, or Month (if not wanting to share specific dates)
• Original Cabin class
• Aircraft type (talks to product on offer)
• Original fare type (Sale / Saver / Flex - for the segment, if known)
• Original fare amount (for the segment, if known)
• Confirmed Upgrade offer amount
• Lowest fare at the time of confirmed offer in the upgrade cabin (before accepting)
  • Calculate using one-way fare for DOM & Trans-Tasman, or as a part of a return for INT fares

I recall there was something set-up like this for the Bid Now Upgrades? Was that an AFF sheet, or someone's own Google sheet or similar?

Yep - that works, too. The more detail, the better... was just conscious that some prefer not to share specific movements, particularly if it's forward travel

That's a great deal. Makes me rethink my upgrade request on a future trip. Has anyone in here been offered a confirmed upgrade offer on a flight with a submitted points upgrade request?

We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.
