Not so inviting in J. Both CX & AY have had J fares $2k lower for our preferred dates. And their lowest involves QF2/QF36/QF4XX for the return flight to Syd at $8k+.
 
Agreed. J makes the F price look like a steal.... most searches I did there was only $1k difference.

When you add in Xmas high season, short booking period, and DSC - it’s a very compelling proposition.

EY and QR are under $10k and you dont need to have two people traveling together. Yes $11k is good price for a QF, fare, but there is still lower.

My TA looked at other options including those two and SQ .... but in the end, the DSC won QF the booking.

About $1000 is what the 'difference' is worth. That's one bottle of premium champagne per person, and a laundering of a nicer blanket.
 
I mirror my comments from last year. For my dates Aug/Sep the difference between AY J and QFJ is about $2250 per pax. And that is with a BA leg in Y. At least this time the search worked so I could compare.
