Qantas Club membership extended for compassionate reasons

I have never posted on the forum but I just wanted to share a really positive experience my partner has had with Qantas recently.

My partner has been a Qantas Frequent Flyer member since 1999 and has privately paid for Qantas Club membership since 2001. She has renewed her membership every year, but unfortunately, after our last trip in November 2024, she was diagnosed with cancer in late March 2025. Our upcoming trip early April was cancelled, and travelling became the last thing on our minds.

Qantas refunded our flights when we realised we would not use the travel credits for some time to come.

My partner renewed her Qantas Club membership on 1 August 2025 for 1 year, thinking she would be able to fly in early 2026, but unfortunately she became unwell again earlier this year and never got to use it. She was going to let her membership go, but then decided to write and ask if Qantas would extend her QC membership for 12 months.

My partner contacted Qantas FF via email and explained her circumstances, providing medical evidence. Qantas wrote back within a week to say they deemed her medical circumstances exceptional and extended her unused membership for another 12 months.

After being a privately paying Qantas Club member for over 25 years, we really appreciate the understanding and compassion shown to her.

It was a lovely reminder that sometimes there really are people willing to look at the individual circumstances rather than just saying, “Those are the rules.”

Thank you, Qantas. ❤️
