Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If a flight is cancelled there is probably no better place to be (apart from not being there) as you get good assistance from staff.

On a slightly different note I met my wife in the QP in 1999 - thought she looked lonely and went and chatted to her swapped email addresses and married her 14 months later and still happily married 12 yrs later!!!!!!!!

Many times I have printed out notes from meetings using the QP printers or used the privacy to trade a few shares.

At times there are some interesting magerzines in the rack which at times I have found useful.

As Seinfield said to Elaine when they were deciding who should go business and who should go economy - Elaine I've flown at the front and you haven't so you don't know what you are missing. I know what I would be missing (my version).

Basically you will not miss it if you do not go there but once you have your probably hooked.

Best of luck.

Hi all,

Just got a new job and with it came the option to purchase heavily discounted Qantas Club membership $380 a year & no joining fee. Is it worth the complimentary drinks and refreshments, extra allowance, check in and what not...i think you can access the lounge when flying Jetstar is that right?
Main Question is what to expect in the lounge

Is it mostly for older crowd (mid 30's plus)..im guessing i would be the youngest their im only 22 but with this job and living away from family id be flying pretty often at least 8 or 10 times a year.

Hope the lounge is not one of those "look at me" ive made it types... full of stuck up and up tight people, Just looking for quiet place to relax while waiting for my flight.

Any info or advice would be great..Thinking of Virgin Australia too might suit the younger crowd being me?

I think all previous posters have covered it. The real plus for me is traveling internationally when you can have a shower, change of clothes, drink and something to eat away from the throng. Domestically, well a few free drinks don't go astray.

I was in the QANTAS club in Perth recently, full of mining company guys in fluro shirts and steel cap boots.....

Careful mate, everyone knows everyone in Perth!
Although I hear that's because they're all inbred :D

Definitely not stuck up crowd. You also won't be the youngest either. If you are travelling as much as you say, I'd say go for it.

True that my 9 and 12 yr old girls are OWS. So have QP memberships.

Sent from my Telstra iPhone using the Australian Frequent Flyer application.

I must add though, If the only QP that you used was the Kalgoorlie one then id be a bit hesitant on spending the money. a can of light beer and packaged fruit cake are the offerings there.
The best part of the Kalgoorlie Qantas club is the fact that you getting out of Kalgoorlie. LOL

Hello and welcome!

The lounge is certainly not mostly for the older crowd! I am in fact younger than you (21) and have never felt out of place in any Qantas or Oneworld business or first lounge. On a side note, the only time I have ever felt uncomfortable was in the TG Royal Silk lounge in BKK.

I think it depends on what type of flying you will be doing. You mention 8 or 10 trips a year. Are these domestic or international? All my travel is for leisure and it is rarely domestic and truthfully, if I only flew domestic (taking into account it's only for leisure, maybe 4 or 5 times a year to visit friends) I would not pay or care all that much about the QP. However, I really feel the value of lounge membership when traveling internationally. Main bonuses for me are:
- Skipping past the often long economy check-in queue
- Priority boarding (not sure if this is offered to QC membership) so that I can get comfortable and pull out something to read, rather than be stuck behind people trying to fit their lives into the overhead lockers.
- Showers!! This is a big one! The quick scrub down during a layover in LAX, SIN, HKG, or BKK is truly a godsend!
- A comfortable and more intimate place just to relax.

In this sense the experience I have in airports are more like a quiet haven away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. But again, I only feel the value for international travel and certainly don't care about the access for domestic. But again, my experience is different to a lot of the other members here as I only travel for leisure, and I assume based on what you have said about family, most of yours will be too.
