Hi,

I'm considering joining either Qantas Club for two years for $700(on a special rate) or joining Priority Pass for US$399(AU$560) for one year. My primary reason for doing so is a OW RTW trip which I'll be commencing in late Nov, and just think it would be nice for the twenty or so airports I'm gonna have to deal with. My destinations include asia(HK, tokyo, sapporo) north america(LAX,DEN,VAN,MIA,YVR,JFK) and europe(LHR,HEL,MUC,ARN)

Can anyone say definitely whether QC of PP is the better choice?

I've noticed that QC is the clear choice for travel in oz, but does it compete with PP for international travel. Thanks, sam.

Depends on the airlines you will be flying on and the airports you will be flying out of.

Qantas Club membership entitles you to access to QF, BA, AA and US (although not sure for how much longer, now that they are part of Star) lounges when your next onward flight THAT day is on that airline. So if your next flight THAT day is on an AA flight, you may access an Admirals Club lounge, and so on. Note, you do not get access to other oneworld lounges, such as CX, EI and so on.

Where it becomes problematic for you is if you have flights on carriers other than QF, AA, BA or US.

If ALL of your flights originate in cities with PP access, I would go PP. If however some of your departure cities do not have PP lounges, then I would look at what QC will give you over what PP will give you.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but without knowing your exact itinerary, this is the best I can do. Sorry.

Dave

Have you thought about getting a Diner's Club card? They have lounges in various airports for card holders. This, combined with an alliance club card, may cover every place you visit.

Thanks for you responses guys. What exactly is an alliance card though? Is it related to the star alliance? Sorry for the dumb question, but i am new to this game. Thanks again.

Sorry to be ambiguous. By alliance card, I meant a Qantas Club membership or a similar membership to one of the other oneworld members, or to one of the Star Alliance members.
