I have just tried to use some of my free lounge passes to get my friends to the Qantas lounge before our departure next week. It looks it cannot be done, because Qantas has suspended the use of these vouchers for the school holiday period. And let me say, this another dirty trick played out by Qantas. When you do sign up for a Qantas credit card, which you usually pay hefty price for, you are not only do get QF points for your transactions, but you do get (usually two) lounge passes. I am sure Qantas would charge a bank for those passes, which then bank pass them onto me. These passes do have an expiry date, so you either use them or lose them. So in my case looks like 4 people in our group will not be able to use those passes before their expiry date, but at the same time Qantas will pocket money for selling them to my bank without any benefit to me. And it is not the case, that Qantas lounge is overcrowded as we are flying out of Canberra very late in the evening. It used to be the case when certain lounges had restricted access at certain airport, i.e Sydney or Melbourne. Now decided to ban access right across the whole network. What a joke !

Poor form qantas
Not great as a consumer when you have to complain and threaten consumer tribunal complaints just to get some semblance of value from the services we have paid to acquire…

I would say I was surprised last week when I went to give my sister a pass for a trip ex ADL next month, and ADL is not accepting passes right now. I find this odd given the ADL QC is a fairly decently sized space and most of the times I have been there it has had plenty of space (yes, some other times it can be a bit willing in the food/table area and around the bar)... If it was OK before the Pandemic, why not now?

Because school holidays according to Qantas. You wonder why you cannot utilize the service which you have paid for........

Here’s the list ... showing lounges where one time passes are not being accepted ....

would seem they have been deleted from the linking page too

Except that the date in question is after July 24th which is the end of SA School Hols, and well past the dates of NSW/VIC.

Plus I'd seen the page noting ADL is not accepting (as linked to here) so I did not bother sending the pass to my sister (she can use MEL on the oubound). And since the page doesn't give dates of when all these lounges are not accepting it I can't see how school hols is a valid excuse from QF (not you).

So again it just seems odd given the size of ADL. Most of the others are far smaller regional roundes, and OOL is a zoo most days so they all make sense.. ADL is a bit of a head scratcher to me tbh.

Anyway it is frustrating obvously when folks have passes and they can't use them - but of course it's up to the airline to put in whatever limits they want. At least the other majors are back on the OK list.

If the passes are already linked, and the flight is at night, we should be OK, right?
Re: Melbourne International

Or does the international lounge in Melb get busy at night?

ADL has been on the list for quite some time as not accepting passes. I've rarely been in the ADL QP precovid when it's been full so yes quite surprising
