So who here thinks that 5 months is a reasonable timeframe for a refund?

Air Asia X were forced to speed up from 2 months to 14 days for refunds when the ACCC started asking questions.

Another course of action would be that I would be arguing that with the timeframe of 5 months Qantas are treating this as a line of credit, so I would be specifying the appropriate interest rate upon repayment in written confirmation. I know that Australia Post is slow now but the beauty of writing is that they will have to choose either to reply in writing (which is a massive PITA for them) or speed up their refund.

On picking myself up off the floor, I was glad I am with Velocity, and wondered how can a major business such as our national carrier Qantas, who recently announced record profits, hang on to such a little refund cash for that length of time?

Don't waste any more time on it, just get your card provider to pull a charge-back. VA are just as bad as well when things go awry.

....

I assumed Qantas people would monitor this FF forum and maybe I'd get my May refund back quicker than waiting until October, otherwise I will chase it up again. If I don't pay my phone or energy bill in time it gets cut off, why can they take so long that's all.
Nope, we used to have RedRoo but they've long gone. The best way to shake them up is probably through FB and Twitter. Agree, it is not acceptable that you need to wait nearly 6 months.
