Hello,

I am pretty sure I know the answer to this but just wanted to check with the experts here.

We are booking a trip next year and both my partner and I are only Bronze QF members (we might get to silver by the end of the trip) but my partner has Qantas Club membership. We are doing most of the flights on EK but are booking with QF with QF flight numbers on all flights. All flights in Y.

Can someone please confirm if my lounge access assumptions are correct, assumes me as a guest.

CBR - BNE - QF metal - use CBR dom lounge
BNE - DXB - EK metal - flight departs at 2.50am. Qantas lounge closes at midnight, don’t think we have access to EK lounge?
DXB - MAD -EK metal 3.5 hour stopover - use Emirates Business Lounge
(Get our own way to Dublin - probably Ryainair Porto to Dublin)
DUB - DXB - EK metal - no lounge?
DXB - SIN - EK metal (not in transit, having 3 days in DXB) - use Emirates Business lounge
SIN - MEL - QF metal - use Qantas Business lounge
MEL - CBR -QF metal - use MEL dom lounge.

Thanks for your help.

That looks about right. As a QP member I believe DXB is the only place that you get EK lounge, although it may be restricted to flying on the QF codeshare.

Yes, that seems to be correct. It must be a QF flight number. I think if is all EK we can’t even use the domestic lounges. Hence the reason we are looking at booking it all through Qantas.

So if you booked a Europe rtn in Y on Emirates metal from the Emirates website there is no lounge access in Australia or Dubai?

That is my understanding. Qantas Club is only flying Qantas. I think there might be rights on American but I think that is about it.

Of course it is different if you have gold status or above because that extends to all One World.

EK isn’t OneWorld though, but yes QP member no access on EK flight numbers

So the only way to get access to the Qantas International Business Lounge in Syd/Mel and Emirates Business Lounge in DXB if flying Australia - Europe rtn as a Qantas Club Silver would be to buy the flights from Qantas either directly or from an agent?

It doesn't matter who you book it with but to get Qantas Club lounge access on EK operated flights you need to book the QF flight number/code share.
You can also pay for EK lounge access in DXB.
