Good afternoon all,

HELP Please. I am a member of QANTAS Frequent Flyers and I have booked dozens of frequent flyer seats over the years. Many of these on AA flights using my QANTAS points BUT i am just looking at flights now and despite putting several hours into it there seems to be a no AA Business class seats on international flights. I was looking from various US ports to varies European ports and there seems to be zero availability. Have I missed an announcement? has there been a change in the policy that allows QANTAS FF members access to AA seats? I am aware of the QATAR Airlines issue but not of an AA change in policy.
I was/am hoping the experts here can enlighten me.

Thanks in advance
John

The market has certainly tightened up so don’t think you are an orphan with this problem.Qantas has decided that they can sell all of their business class seats so none go to Qantas points holders.

With the change in the AA frequent flyer program and dynamic awards, they now have very few "AAsaver" awards on offer to partners. Not just to QF, but other ff partners as well.
Business class USA<---->EU on AA and other airlines has high demand. AA print gazillions of AA miles for their frequent flyers/frequent spenders.

So...there has been a change in AA seat policy. I wasn't aware that they had gone to a dynamic system. I suspected something had happened but I wasn't sure what it was. Thank you for clearing that up. I guess we add AA to QATAR as no longer really an option :-(
Thanks for bringing me up to speed.

There are AA redemptions out there even AU<->US for the ultra flexible ie short notice availability.

The non-existent trans-Atlantic AA seats has been a problem for a while. A workaround is to look for BA flights (there are actually more US cities served by BA non-stop to LON (and other UK ports) than operated by AA (even though AA probably operates more flights by quantity). IB and AY also worth a look.

Still actually saw SYD-LAX J reward availability on AA using QF points, but that was when the flight was less than 10 days out. It is possible but really it is only for a last minute trip.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
