I wish to use points to go to South America .

Appreciate any advice on best way to secure direct flight seats ie not thru Dallas or Miami.

Would round the world ticket be a better option ? Can you access this online ?

Please help !!!

Welcome to AFF
The Qantas web site is the place to look first

Thanks for response . i've been to the site . It seems almost impossible top get award seats back frm Santiago South America to Brisbane without a 34 hour flight thru Dallas or MIAMI.
QANTAS seem ok to let you get seats one way on a relatively direct flight between the two countries but not the other ie either forward or return journey but not both .

Any clues welcome

Really depends when you want to go and what class, what status you are etc. but QF are known for limited award availability. So going via the US isn't unusual. Maybe see if there's availability on LAN from Santiago, Chile back to Sydney which QF codeshares on. That would be less indirect.

You might want to call QF too, they can be quite helpful for enquiries but you'll be charged a fee for booking through them.

If QF say not available not much we can do. They are QF seats.
What if any QF status do you hold ?
One 1 or more people ?
What class off travel ?
Try different days
Try SCL-AKL or SCL-SYD (Lan aircraft QF codeshare), EZE-SYD (QF flights)
BNE may be complicating the process. You may need to pay $$ for a normal seat from SYD or AKL to BNE
